Hello everyone. I don't post here much but I do lurk quite a bit. Just wanted to ask you all if you have any suggestions for the forum. Stickies, subforums or the like. If you need anything feel free to PM me.

Ok guys, so I think I've got a good layout for some subforums. Let me know what you think please.

HTC
---HTC FAQ
---HTC Flashing and Unlocking
---Hacks And Programs For HTC Devices

I think this should help organize a grand majority of the threads which get posted. Anything to add, remove or change? Anyone interested in maintaining a wiki? Let me know.

Hey Wrangler.
I'm not sure about having that many subforums as it kind of gets all over the place. I can see the unlocking being an okay one. Maybe we should split up the Smartphone/Standard devices from the PPC/Pro? But the problem there is that a lot of people don't know the distinction. One of the reasons I'm not too keen on subforums right now is because WM is so broken up over Hofo. The PPC forum has tons of overlap with HTC where there are equivalent threads. There's also the sections in the AT&T and T-Mobile, etc. forums. Just seems like there's a lot of clicking to be done.

I agree with you on the overlap issue. However since there are already dedicated forums for Smartphone and PPC versions of WM, you don't think that would make the HTC forum even more redundant? Are you suggesting we keep the subforums as is, and then break them up within the subforums into Smartphone/PPC?

I suggest we keep the dividing fairly minimal (So we should probably keep the two platforms together to minimize confusion). Sometimes I reason out loud.

Actually, maybe you should rename the programs to say software and games, so people would post 3rd party information such as programs and emulators in there.

One common type of thread I see, that sometimes gets overly rampant are the ones about buying devices. You know, the ones where they ask where's the cheapest price, how much you paid, is this a good deal? I'm not sure if that should be a section and would like your input on it.

Thanks for the reply. I think clarifying the software and games is a good idea. I want to keep the title the way it is, so it will include both 3rd party programs, as well as small tweaking programs. Even cabs which just tweak the registry should be lumped in there as well I'm thinking. What I'm going to do is put a sub-title underneath that says Post Discussion About Software/CABs, Tweaks, Games And Emulators Here. As well I'm going to get rid of the FAQs for now and add a "What HTC is right for me?" subforum. That would help with the common "which phone should I get" questions you are talking about. Again thanks for the input. Let me know what you think of the new layout.

I'm just glad I can help. Thank you for taking the time to try to make the forum better. Looks good so far. We should probably leave it as is for a while and see how it actually runs and then post here if there are further suggestions.

I agree, we should let the subforums stay as is for a while and see how it works out. There are going to be a lot of closed and moved threads in the next few days while everyone is getting adjusted. That being said, if anyone has a problem with anything that gets moved or closed, feel free to shoot me a PM. I feel that if someone posts in the wrong place, it will be more of a learning experience if the thread is closed, than if I just moved it.

Also, just to reiterate, anyone interested in a wiki? Please let me know.

JwY, again, thanks for your help.

I think that it would be a good idea to put the WAP and MMSC settings for each of the carriers in a sticky, therefore it would be easier for newer users to setup their internet and mms.
