Tilt in Germany - No connection to local carriers

I am right now in Germany and although the Tilt detects at least 4 compatible networks, it refuses to connect to any of them, doggedly so. If anybody has had the same problem and has found a solution, please let me know.

If you have international roaming authorized on your account, call 1-916-843-4685 from another phone. They will call you back if you give a contact number. If you do not have international roaming authorized, you will only be able to make emergency calls to 112.
