ke3ee said "As on official SE repair station, I can tell you that the P800 firmware was not pulled as of this morning........ In fact there is now a faster way to flash upgrade P800's with a new usb system from SE that I have on order.. should cut time from 105 min's to about 20....... Robb"
BVH says: It sounds like the new flash interface is a true, USB data transfer protocol then? If so, is there any hint of a true USB data transfer protocol being used for end-user sync'ing?

I read some where before the P800 was released, that eventually they'll let the end user flush their own phones. I also read that one of the main reasons that they don't allow it is because of FCC regulations. They don't want people modifying their settings. I wish I could remember where I read that.

I think BVH was referring to the slow speed of the USB sync.

Sorry...Guess I misunderstood...

The USB interface that Robb is referring to is the USB EPI interface to connect SE phones to EMMA2. It's much faster than the normal serial connectors, but P800's seem to run into "Error in Sequence" problems with these at the moment. When they work fine, it will cut flashing times by 80%. Can only connect 2 per machine though.

But does that mean the the phone itself, is right now capable of true USB transfer speeds? If so then maybe at some point, SE will sell a true USB sync cradle.
