Is it possible to download the telenav app to T-mo's 8320? I know the T-mo 8800 supports telenav but when I talked to data support they couldn't explain why the 8320 couldn't handle the app. I know cingular just released a a curve with telenav... Can it be done? If so...how???

The 8320 doesn't have GPS...
The 8800 supports Telenav because it has GPS..

Pretty bad that TMobile's support couldnt explain why a BB that does not have a GPS receiver didnt work with a GPS application.

Wrong, Wrong, and WRONG! The Pearl does not have GPS either... Hmmmmm, wanna explain how it is supported?

FYI - Non-GPS phones like the Pearl and the Curve have to use a BlueTooth GPS receiver. I have been using it with my T-Mobile pearl since I bought the thing.

The issue of TeleNav working on the T-Mobile Curve 8320 is another issue though. I hear it works just fine, but I have not figured out what exactly is done to get it to do so. I'm playing around with it now - I'll let you know what I find out...

How does telenav work with a non GPS phone without a BT connected GPS receiver?

It works fine. Just download the 8310 version.

Adding on to that... I downloaded the AT&T 8310 version for my T-Mobile 8320. For those of you that have always had GPS receivers built-in with your phone, those of us that do not, simply use a BlueTooth GPS Receiver to get the same job done as good or oftentimes BETTER (Depending on what kind of receiver you buy, of course...). Plus it helps that since it is not in the phone, you can locate it anywhere in your car - I keep mine in the sun/moon roof! Can't get any better than a clear path to the sky through glass! That would not be so easy for those of you with the built-in GPS. But keep in mind that you can buy a BlueTooth GPS receiver for your phone too!

Anyhow... go to "Options" --> "Advanced Options" --> "GPS" and set it from "None" to whatever your GPS receiver is. If you DO NOT have a BlueTooth Receiver with an 8310 or 8320, you are not going to be able to use TeleNav Also, in TeleNav, just go to "Tools/Extras" and make sure the "GPS Source" is set to "Bluetooth" and I think "Connection" needs to be set to "BIS."

I have been running TeleNav flawlessly for weeks now. I will note that it was dropping my connection at first before I checked out and adjusted all my settings to the above.

Hope that helps!

Stupid question I'm sure but where did you get the Telenav download? Telenav themselves or AT&T?

You get it from TeleNav...

On your BlackBerry (Using the Internet browser), just go to ota.telenav.com/ota/at --> choose AT&T --> RIM(BlackBerry) --> RIM BlackBerry 8310

That should do it!

Now...

- I see this is hard for you to understand, but what part of "BlueTooth GPS Receiver" do you fail to get. You would use one with the Pearl just as you do the Curve or any other phone that does not have GPS built in (That could support a Nav program, of course). Really... it is a rather simple concept.

Heck, I'll explain more for you...
GPS receiver in your phone = same function of using a BlueTooth one (Yes, they really do exist!). Phone + GPS receiver (like the one built into your phone) + Nav software = Frickin functional GPS

OK?!?!!!

Do some research on it if you don't believe me - or HEY! - Here's an idea! Go to the TeleNav web site right now and see if you don't see the Pearl 8100 and Curve 8310 (Both non-GPS phones) both listed as supported devices.

Geeh Golly Gosh Darn!
