Deciding Between Treo 755 and HTC 6800?

So, my last phone was a Treo 650 which I loved. Didn't use the data plan on, just used it for txt'ing, phone calls, and a good PDA.

I switched to Alltel so I could get a HTC-6800, since then I've been somewhat disappointed with it while liking some features. I've been dissapointed with the speed of the phone (running WM6) and that my screen has a dead spot (can get it replaced, no biggie though). The wifi was cool, but now that I've got a data plan with EVDO, its not 100% necessary. I have grown to like the sliding and the large screen of the 6800.

But I got a chance to exchange the 6800 for a Treo 755 and get some money back. I don't know though, what do you think? I loved my 650, but I've come to like (and hate) some features of WM6.

Are there any huge problems with the Treo 755 (other than an outdated OS?) Oh what should I do?

It's all depends if you like palm os more then WM os.

They both have lots 3rd party apps. I have never owned an WM phone but for all the times I played with them, I don't really like it. Although some people loves it.

I've been using a 700p for a year now. OS is pretty outdated but it works. I'm also lucky that I don't have the usually 700p problems.

Frankly, I'm not impressed by the CS of Palm at all and this is my first Palm device and likely my last one. Even though I enjoyed the time with 700p.

I'll be making my decision on my next phone mid next year. Waiting to see if iPhone2 will have more features and lots 3rd party apps or if Palm will actually surprise us with their new OS and new design of next gen. of Treo.

Frankly, if Nokia has a Tri-band HSDPA E90, I'd love to give it a try. I've only used s60 for a little while but liked it.

It's all of a personal choice. 755p is a good upgrade from 650. Good luck.

P.S. If you decided to go with 755p. You should use Opera Mini or Xiino for webbrowsing. Blazer is very outdated and slow. IE is very bad on WM phones too.

I dont think any of the Alltel smartphones are very good. You should get a new provider

I dunno, Blazer seems fast enough to me, and I heard Opera Mini does not play nice with Treo Java. In addition, I believe the built-in Kinoma stream player works better than just about anything else in PDA land.

Blazer response quickly but takes too much time to render the page, if it's not a mobile friendly one.

OperaMini takes a little while to response but loads quite a bit faster. Java could be problematic but so far I haven't had any major problems. OperaMini 4.0 is a LOT stable than the previous ones.

Xiino is the fastest but we are out of luck because it has been discontinued since 05. Give it a try and you'll end up use it most of the time. Speed wise it really leaves Blazer in the dust.

They got 755p, 700w/wx, motorola q, HTC 6800, BB 8830 and BB8703.

What do you mean by they are not very good? Have you use any of those above?

Well, I got the 755p and I'm pretty happy with it. The only thing that sucks is Alltel's lack of MMS on the Treo's, which frankly is BS.

I miss someo of the features of the 6800 like how it worked out of the box with ORB, and the nice big screen, but I like that the 755p just "works".

I've already got Opera Mini 4 installed now and I'll give Xiino a try too!

What's wrong with ORB? It plays on my 755P. The only PITA is that you have to remember to refresh (menu-r) the page, otherwise, it won't connect using an old cached page.

I also noticed that after I updated my roaming ability(*228) Opera Mini is responding a lot quicker now. Although I don't know if Sprint has something similar to *228 function.

Glad you are happy with 755p. What do you think of Xiino?
