Hi all,

My brother and I each have a 8125 since beginning of 2005. Recently, after the AT&T and Cingular merger, our phones became unable to connect to the network at all. We went in to the store and the employees gave us new SIM cards (AT&T logo) to replace the old (Cingular logo). This worked for a short while, and a week later, the same problem re-occurred.

To make a long story short, we each got a couple more SIM card replacements and they all stopped working within a few days. On my last trip to the store, after I got another replacement SIM card, instead of putting it in my 8125, I put it in a back-up phone and that has not stopped connecting to the network.

The employees have told me different theories about why this is happening. Some say that our phones are defective (both at the same time?) and they are "killing" the SIM cards. Some others say that the 8125 is not compatible with the new AT&T SIM card, and that I need to find dealers that still have the old Cingular SIM cards.

What's puzzling to me is that with each replacement SIM card, it would work for a while in the 8125, then it would stop connecting to the network. Moreover, once the SIM card stops working in the 8125, they don't work in other phones either.

Do you guys have any idea what might be happening? and any suggestions?

thanks!

Try a hard reset on the phone, get the latest ROM from HTC:
