I'm aware that there has been some controversy about why the 8525's display suddenly turns white after a while, but it's been happening too frequently for me recently. I don't know what's going on, but if the phone is in my pocket for 30 minutes and then I try to use it or get an incomming call, bam, it's a white screen. I tap the power button a couple times, flip open the keyboard a few times, and then it works. It's like having to play a shuffle with this phone every day in order for it to work.

I've had my 8525 since January of this year. I never experiened any issues, but when summer rolled around it started happening. Is it common for this to be happening like it does, or is the device damanged in some way since it does this excessively?

Yeah, I've been doing that for a while now...but the problem keeps recreating itself after a while every time I do a hard reset.

If you recieved it in January then it's still under warranty. Call ATT and have them do an exchange.

The only thing about this is that I bought the phone from a friend, brand new in the box, so I didn't buy it through Cingular/AT&T, so AT&T doesn't even know I have the device.

Is calling Warranty Repair an option anyway? I think I have seen their number here in the wiki.

I called in, and a woman took my order for a replacement phone pretty quickly. I remember when I had my old Razr, they sent me a new one overnight. She said my phone would be here in 5-7 working days unless I wanted to pay an extra $12 for express shipping. Oh well, the phone is functional for now, so I can't complain.

The phone has no physical or water damage, but my little sticker at the top right hand corner with the back flap of the phone off does say VOID, and then there are two little red lines under that. Is something supposed to pop up in between the two red lines to consider it void, or is the device really void out of warranty? It's never been dropped, met water, or anything.
