I just bought a nokia n75. I was wondering what updates/apps are people doing to the phone?

is there a way to absolutely lock the keypad so that when it is in my pocket it wont play songs out of anywhere?

"Menu"+"*" will lock keypads. The other way is to install this application: AutoKeylock

It is the left softkey plus "*" held down simultaneously. It turns off as soon as you open the flip. Alternatively, you can press the Power button and select Keyguard from the dropdown menu while the flip is open.

With the Flip closed. Hit the left than right softkey.

I've been thinking about getting this phone ... what is the process for unlocking and unbranding the phone? Is it something someone without a lot of technical experience (namely me) with phones can do?

What advantages does unlocking provide?

Thanks in advance!

If you unbrand it can you now close the music app?

everyone search the s60 forum. Its been the hottest thread in that forum debranding this phone. Its almost a necessity with the n75. There are no problems after doing it and it makes the phone better in every way. Check out the thread all the info is there. Fyi n75 is my backup phone its a powerful little phone.

You must debrand this phone for it to be a great one. I have it as a backup as well to my treo 750 and just for the fact that after you debrand to nokia software you can change the bands to gsm only, umts only or auto, makes it worth it. Also you get rid of all the att junk which slowed the os down alot.

Its easy to do this. Just look in the s60 forum like roger said and there are step by step instructions.

Here's the cliff notes: call ATT international depart. for an unlock code, unlock the phone, use nemesis to change product code and then nsu to update firmware. Goto s60 forum and look for the debranding nokia n75 thread its all there. Good Luck.

Found the thread you all were referencing in the S60 section. I appreciate the pointer to it ... seems like the hardest part of the whole process is getting ATT to give you the subsidy unlock code .... might be particularly challenging for people like me who are not on a business account and don't have a travel excuse and would need to mnlock 2 phones (for my wife and myself)....

Might give it a shot though .. I do like the phone in itself and if the battery life can be improved by debranding it may be worth it.

i'm not on a business account and i still told them i was traveling to france. just tell a little white lie, its ok. doesnt matter if you have a regular account. but tell them you are going overseas and need to use a local prepaid sim card. they should give it to you no problems.

I've had 2 N75s and called and got them both unlocked. Just tell them you're going overseas. They may ask you what county you're actually going to so just be prepared to spit somethin out like China or whatever. It doesnt matter.

I got the code within 3 hours the first time and the 2nd time took like 2 days.

It's a shame that att frigged the phone up so much that we have to go thru this just to enjoy it the way Nokia intended it to be which once its unlocked or debranded its no different than the $300-$350 one from Nokia and the great thing is the phone at least for me was only $50.
