8525: stopped syncing with computer
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

For some reason, my 8525 has stopped synching with my laptop computer.. I think it is on the 8525 side, though, as I never get the swirly-green-arrows like I used to.. Plus, if I go to the communications manager and click on the Activesync application, the green arrows are greyed out. If I hit 'Sync', nothing at all happens..
Why would it suddenly stop working?

is your "enable advanced network functionality" option unchecked?

Same thing with me and I have tried both checked and unchecked. I have uninstalled and re-installed ActiveSync 4.5. Nothing is working.

Someone else here had this problem and if it's not the advanced networking option then a hard reset would probably fix it. It worked for them. I would give it a shot. just remember to have all your programs and files backed up.

Have you recently done anything like clean out Notifications or used any other "memory cleaner" programs?
If so, its possible you somehow deleted your "repllog.exe" trigger/event.
Basically, your phone needs to be running a prog called repllog.exe to start the ActiveSync process. And when you connect your phone via USB cable, its supposed to trigger repllog.exe to start.
What happens sometimes is somehow, your phone doesnt start it. Either the trigger got deleted (can really only be done either manually or via some cleaning program) or your phone's event queue gets "blocked" and never gets to the trigger. This I've seen happen when your phone gets into a sort of corrupted state. It's somewhat recoverable, if its one of these things.
Provide more details about anything you did/installed/removed between the last time it sync'd fine and when it stopped doing so. And I assume you've at least tried a soft reset with no difference?
Also, you can do a google on "repllog.exe" and you will find more info on this.

Side note: Sometimes checking or unchecking the Advanced network functionality checkbox on the USB Settings will "fix" it. It actually is "working around" it. There are 2 triggers for repllog generally. Any RS232 (serial) connection or any network connection. Sometimes if one trigger is stuck, the other may still work. Checking this box toggles between the two modes on "which way your PC connects to the phone".

I have both 'Advanced Network Functionality' checked, AND 'repllog.exe' running..
I have a cooked version of WM6, and was running it to check for stability.. Everything worked great for about a month, no problems. I never installed any other programs except what came with the CABs..
I supposed it could be something with my laptop, but it seems to be at least trying to connect.. I get nothing from my phone..

PS Is there a listed description of what the processes are that run under WM6? What is NK.EXE?

Well the repllog.exe did not work. I have hard reset. Still no Syncing.
Let me say that everything works except the Syncing. It powers from the USB port so I do not think it is a hardware problem.
Any thoughts or questions?

If you've hard reset and still not syncing, I'd think it's not likely to be phone software/config related then. Hard reset should fix all those types of things.
So tracing from there:
- It could be your USB port on the phone went bad. (tho unlikely)
- Or your USB cable went bad (tho unlikely)
- Or your PCs config somehow isn't working (most possible I suppose)
I'd try another USB cable and see if you can sync from another PC.
Sorry, beyond that, you've got me stumped.

USB Cable works for powering the device. Also it works with my USB external HD.
I have formatted my PC after the beginning of the problem and this is a new setup.
Is there a way to download the ROM from a Storage Card?
Posted by: jomo25
I beleive this is possible. You should go to the forums at XDA-Developers.com and do a search on ROM and Storage Card. I've seen threads there talking about this.
Sorry, I can't give any other ideas on what the issue might be.

Thanks for all the help.

Wellll.......
Maybe it wasn't my phone afterall..
After extensive (and I mean extensive) scanning, I finally found there was a strange 'hblogon.dll' loading.. Once I deleted that, things seem to be running a little better..
I plugged up my phone, it recognized it, and went into Activesync.. The arrows are swirling on both my laptop and 8525, and both say 'synchronizing', but it's been going at it for 20 mins and nothing has synced yet..
I'll do another scan to make sure everything is clean on my laptop..
A little closer..

I left it synchronizing all night, but it never did.. Just spinning arrows..

Have you tried to uninstall and then reinstall ActiveSync (latest version) on the laptop? That did the trick for me when mine had stopped once.
