Interesting that they show two possible form factors that a Google Phone could take. Love the opening "ANDROID" text and blinking cursor

Looks very good so far..I think this will be revolutionary IMO..Still early to tell but they are offering $10 million for the best applications..It's going to be great..

I am not impress with the design of the UI. Looks outdated.

thats not the ui

Its nothing really more then what other OS have in store for next year. LG and Apple started with this year. Next year we will see Nokia Touch and SE have similar OS with the same functions (maps, contacts, full web browsers, GPS, etc). It is just the way the entire industry is going.

The determining factor will be ease of use to the consumer. Average consumer doesn't care about Apple vs Nokia vs Google. They want to see the phone models and find whats best for their needs so its going to be a battle over who's is easier to use..which sounds dirty to say in the current state of the market in the USA

Judging from the video package it looks like Andriod is going to make a back sceen when it launchs publicly.

My guess is there is going to be tons of UI's. Just like on linux I can use openbox today, and gnome tomorrow, and not allow anything related to qt or arts to even come near my computer.

This is going to be the sickest, most customizable thing ever. Can't wait.

Looks like lots of the danger os code has been used.

"the source is completely available"

That decision is completely optional by the manufacturers.

Openmoko already has GTK, QT, javafx, e17 available as a UI; that remains to be seen with android. My guess is you will be able to skin, but not replace the UI.

looks promising

I'm excited. I'm hoping this will be used both on GSM and CDMA handsets.

damn thats pretty snazy cant wait

best thing is that it looks like it will support touch screen in conjunction with physical buttons. best of both worlds and i could never use an all touch screen only phone.

Looks pretty cool...the applications will make it or break it though.

this thing looks pretty sweet. I think this actually may provide some competition to the boys in Cupertino. not saying it will be an iPhone killer like that crap that LG thought it would do but still.

everyone knows Google has the financial backing to make whatever they want. so you factor in lots of $ bucks $ and lots of smart people who know how to write code and you could very well have some serious competition.

we shall see.
