I jailbroke with jailbreakme.com, I have done it before, I have att, and have an att sim in the phone but service shows up as 4 blank lines? anyone seen this before?

I used UnlockThatIPhone.com and it worked perfectly. try that one instead.

update: I claled att and there are no service outages in my area, I upgraded to 1.1.2 and then back to 1.1.1 and then jailbroke, do I need to reviriginize? can I upgrade to 1.1.2 and is there a simle jailbreak? I pretty much just need my phone to work, I just want an activation work around Not too worried about appsnap yet

Caraval 0.7 + AnySIM (which it installs automatically for you in the process) is quite user friendly - It only requires 4 reboots of your phone, and you're ready to go..

Upgrading to 1.1.2 then downgrading to 1.1.1 and jailbreaking results in no service, even for AT&T users.

It's not necessary to virginize. And for heavens sake why does he need AnySIM? He's on AT&T.

There is a method of jailbreaking 1.1.2. It's not quite as simple as jailbreakme.com but it's almost as quick.

Just follow the instructions to jailbreak 1.1.2 and you'll be fine.

What are you trying to unpack the files with? I had the same problem under Windows. The only way I was able to unzip it was in Mac mode.

Let me see if I can make it into a ZIP rather than a RAR and I'll put it upon my webspace

Try the zip file available for download HERE and see if that unzips any better

I was reading in the readme that the 1.1.2 jailbreak only works if you have 1.1.1 on your phone? whats up with that? is this a mistake?

yeah i was unzipping using win rar, hoefully your zip file will work, I am going to try to do this at 2:30 today, just need to know if I have to upgrade to 1.1.2 first , just going on what that readme says it said I needed to have 1.1.1 , thanks for all you help, hopefully this works out, we'll see where im at by 3

What you have to do is jailbreak 1.1.1 and activate. Then install OktoPrep from the installer. Do an update to 1.1.2 not a restore. Unzip the 1.1.2 jailbreak and click on windows.bat. Also put a check mark on install SSH once the java windows pop ups. Then just use iTunes to activate since your on ATT.

well the problem is i'm on pick your plan
if I could go back to 1.1.1 and re-jailbreak and get service back that would be awesome, this is so frustrating, ive gone between 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 like 5 times

So techincally you don't have a valid iphone plan through ATT right? So you need to unlock the phone correct?

In 1.1.1 I don't think you need to unlock a phone to use a pay as you go AT&T SIM. You just need to bypass activate it

If that's the case you need to stay at 1.1.1. which means you'll have to virginize and reupdate to 1.1.1. You cant bypass activate 1.1.2 yet

Here is what I did to get it to work.

While your phone is unlocked write down your IMEI and ICCID number from your phone before you begin
Since your on 1.1.1 put the phone into DFU mode and restore to 1.0.2
Activate 1.0.2 and install Installer.app
Install BSD Subsytem, Community Sources, and openSSH
upload anySIM1.2 to Applications and chmod to folder and all files in the folder to 755, after you upload it to your phone rename the folder to anySIM.app
Run anySIM and make sure the phone was unlocked
After that do a Restore to firmware 1.1.1 and use iBrick to get it out of the restore logo.
Then jailbreak 1.1.1 using the AppSnapp
During the whole time while you have v.1.1.1 you won't get a carrier signal even though you unlocked it with anySIM1.2, it's normal
Once you have installer.app install OktoPrep
After it successfully installs do an update to 1.1.2 not a restore
To do an update for windows hold down the shift key and press check for update in iTunes
After it successfully updates to 1.1.2 click on windows.bat and let it finish
To activate I just followed these instructions to replace the lockdownd, http://iphone.simbunch.com/iphone.activate.1.1.1.php

woow, does all of this really need to be done? this seems like it will take forever Ive only done the actiavtion bypass/ jailbreak with jailbreakme.com , so I don't know if im capable of tackling all these processes

You can follow these instructions to downgrade your firmware to 1.0.2 and baseband to 03.14.08_G. http://wiki.howardforums.com/index....rading_Baseband. Once you downgrade both the firmware and baseband you can then do an update or restore to 1.1.1 and jailbreak using AppSnapp. This would probably be the easiest thing to do and just wait until an easier process is worked out if you want to update to 1.1.2. Your going to have to get bbupdater also since the files don't include it.
