Sorry for the double post but I'm panicking here.
My original thread:

if i do a restore thru iTunes, will I need to do UnlockThatIphone.com again to make it unlocked? Or is it possible for someone to send me the preferences.app from a 1.1.1 phone and I can just put it on there somehow?
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

Happy to report that one of the iPhone 3rd-party software developers i'd been emailing actually created an installer.app fix for me, and it worked perfectly. granted it shows up under "uninstall" in the installer.app, but that's not a huge deal IMHO. If anyone knows how to get rid of that, of course, let me know, so I don't accidentally uninstall it.
But my preferences icon is back and I can change settings again...whew!

It sucks when people hack their phones and don't heed the warnings. The "hackers" that put these programs out have a disclaimer there for a reason.

Actually, there was no disclaimer that renaming a file would freakin' OVERWRITE a file with the same name. It's pretty standard to get an error saying a file with that name already exists.
Not true on the iPhone. Lesson learned.

HAHA! I'm utilizing a virtue known as patience!(and also a vice known as pride) Why would I spend hundreds of dollars on a stable system to hack it and make it unstable when I can wait a bit longer and do the same stuff with stability?

um, because you can have both...and its fun and in no way illegal and the ipod is completely restoreable to factory settings
solved my problem by the way
