heres what happened

i went to the bathroom...was taking my pants off to sit down...i was holding the phone in a weird position...i sit down and look at the phone and see a box that says.."do you want to copy this link to the clipboard" and underneath the box was the keyboard...and then i touched something and it disappeared!

im frustrated cause im trying to duplicate what happened and im not getting anything!

can someone help me figure this out?

btw i was using safari

At least provide the site you were visiting so that everyone can see if it was the site that had that as a script or something..

I hope you figure it out. I can't. I figured out that if you press and hold on a link it pops up with the link name and the url it points to. It goes away as soon as you move your finger or press another finger on the screen, though. I also discovered that you can freeze the magnifying glass in place by tapping it with another finger until you press somewhere else. It isn't consistent, though, so it may actually be a bug.

Ok, I just pulled down my pants and it asked me the same question too. Everyone pull down your pants and post the results!! Make sure you're holding the phone or it won't work.

my guess, he was on a website that said the copy text thing, and he had hus curser in an input field.. like the copy link to embed option on youtube.. get what im saying?

I have seen this to, like when you are in landscape and you are right next to the speaker you move your thumb to the screen with out lifting your thumb and it says action.

it specifically asked me if i wanted to copy a link to the clipboard. im thinking its a bug cause i spent an hour trying to figure it out..

i currently have 1.1.1, and when typing a reply to an e-mail today i hit a "p" in some weird way and got a series of p's with various accents.

i fooled around and realized that if you hold down usually accented characters you will get a series of other accented choices.

i was using sms text and did something like this, and my conversation ( what i was typing was duplicated)

i typed: hey whats up?
and moved it a certain way in bed ( laying down ) and it copied it rite beside it?

wtf?!

im still on 1.0.2 only because ibrickr dont work on anything else, besides 1.0.2

did anyone see that fake youtube video about how copy and paste "should" work? Could this possibly be the case in 1.1.2?? Like holding one finger next to the text and sliding your other finger as if to copy? I seriously doubt it because I havent heard any rumors about copy and paste being available...but since this find, it's worth a try. I can't test it myself because I am on 1.1.1. Anyone?

Yeah I've tried to play around with the Loupe in all sorts of combinations, however the only thing I managed to do was to freeze it there - just as another poster mentioned earlier.

This seems more like a bug than a feature. Perhaps Apple is adding the copy/paste feature bit by bit, just as they did with international keyboards (1.1.1 had different layouts but no dictionaries, 1.1.2 now has both).

Why on Earth does Apple not use release notes?

Do they even update the user's manual to reflect the added functions? It's extremely annoying.

BTW, I have tried pants up and pants down, my Iphone still lacks features, regardless.

Yes, I noticed this in 1.1.1 while browsing HoFo on Safari.
It would only happen while tapping & holding on the background of the main Apple forum (in the light-blueish background).

Now I can't get it to pop the Action box on 1.1.2.
But who knows, maybe it was something HoFo "fixed", as it only happened here.

Can anyone still on 1.1.1 try this and let us know your results?

Yeah it's stupid not to provide release notes with a new version of any software.
I work in the software industry, and my customers would be mad if we didn't provide release notes.

As for the user's manual, yes it has been updated with the new features - such as international keyboards, French & German dictionaries, the E for EDGE versus blue block for GPRS, etc.
Too bad there's no easy way to pull those out of the manual... is there such a thing as "diff" for Acrobat?

I can get the action box when I hold my finger on a link for a while. i have 1.1.2. Maybe we will be able to paste and send hyperlinks soon? anyway, as far as a clipboard being in 1.1.2 we would know something more about it than a vague story. that would be big news.

its not a action box with the url link, its a box that pops up and says "action". Anyone have 1.1.1 and can try this? Just hold your finger down in a post with no text or links just in the white area. It used to say action but you couldn't do anything with it, now nothing.

I hope they fix an super annoying bug with international keyboard in 1.1.1. You cannot change input language while writing a message (like every cell phones in the world!)... and worst of all if you go in the setting menu you can only add international keyboard but not remove the default english one. So everytime you write in another language than english the autocorrection try to match english words even though you are not writing english at all. Anyway.. super annoying.

Not true. I used iBrickr this morning to install Customize 1.13 on my iPhone, which is a 1.1.1 (and always has been.)

More current Jailbreaking methods do this automatically so you will have to search on how to do it manually.
From what I know it's a simple drop in process but I might be very wrong about this.

I didn't do anything like that, though the unlocking process might have done it for me. All I know is that I didn't do anything manually to enable this.

You have to enable the PXL function through an additional installer source. I can't remember which one it is but it's one of these:

Nope, you do not.

iBrickr installed and enabled the PXL function for me. I did not have to do anything except reboot the phone when it told me to.

One thing, the ringtones feature in iBrickr doesn't work in 1.1.2.
It says they are there but you can't find them on the phone.

well, that's strange then because I did the jailbreak with iBrickr and also reverted from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2 with it and now since I have 1.1.1 it says I need to free my phone for iBrickr to work. I get the message at the beginning saying I need 1.0.2 to use it

I apologize. Ibrickr didn't work with 1.1.1 but seems to work with 1.1.2 (uploading files & installing programs) through the process I mentioned in my previous post.

you can still get the "action" to show up on apples site! Try and register for help at the genius bar and on the last like it won't let you click on your phone click and hold and the action thing will come up but you can't do anything with it.

I upgraded my phone to 1.1.1 yesterday from 1.0.2
my iBrickr worked at first, then it stopped ( asking me to connect my iPhone)

so this is telling me it DOES WORK but something happens so it doesn't? )
