- My 1.1.2 Experience Conclusion: Uneventful -

So,

I finally bit the bullet and went 1.1.2 - the ONLY reason I did this was because I couldn't stand the fact that iTunes would remind me that the newest version was 1.1.2. Anyhow...

Installed Oktoprep, set my AutoLock to NEVER, and away we go....

Background:
- I'm on windows, so I would be running the windows.bat batch file that comes in the jailbreak package.
- Phone was originally 1.1.1 and unlocked with ISPF 1.6

Batchfile ran nicely - I made sure I checked the "install ssh" box, and then continued. A few minutes later, it was done, and my phone reboted to the activation screen.

Using WinSCP, I gained access to the filesystem, which is a good sign - Anyhow, I copied the 1.1.2 lockdownd file and rebooted my phone.

***

Everything seems to come up alright...So far I find that UIctl just crashes to springboard.

Everything else seems good...

I envy you !!!!
I am glad you got ti working...wish I knew as much as you to get past my fear of bricking me phone...

You know what? I waited a long time for that reason, but then I read all the guides on downgrading and realized that there really isn't a way you can completelky 100% destroy your phone. Short of throwing it into the Grand Canyon, you can always get it back...

It wasn't as daunting as I thought it would be...

**UPDATE**

I've also discovered that I can't find my EDGE settings - There's no place to input them, as the option is no longer available in SETTINGS>GENERAL>NETWORK

What sim card are you using? Also thats because you didnt use the right lockdownd file which effects the iPhone more then most of the community thought. Its bein worked on now.

I'm using a Rogers Simcard -

Which lockdown file should I be using?

Use the lockdownd from iphone-elite. I've used it on 6 phones already with no problems

I'm pretty sure this is the one I used already, but i'll over-write it again and see.

** Update **

Yup, same file - Ulctl still crashes, and still no EDGE settings in the network settings page...

Other than that, everything is....not really underwhelming...just whelming

drakkhen, sorry for the following noob question but i just wanted to make sure i was following you. you've unlocked the phone and can make calls on 1.1.2 firmware using Rogers right ?

Posted by: GeeK.dLL

Try this lockdownd file: http://hacklabs.googlecode.com/files/lockdownd.zip

1.1.2 was by far the easiest upgrade/jailbreak there's been. Took me all of 20 minutes from start (the upgrade) to finish (after jailbreaking).

hopefully someone will come up with an unlocking solution to OTB 1.1.2 soon...i'm going home for thanksgiving break and i'm thinking of picking one up then but chances are by now if i buy one it's going to be 1.1.2 :/

**EDIT**

Actually, when I revert back to the original file, I also have no service..???

Ishimaru,

You have flaunted how easy it is to upgrade to 1.1.2 - That's great...congrats - you are awesome, and everyone else here is unworthy of your amazing talents - I've yet to see you actually post something that is helpful to anyone.

Other than how great and amazing you are, what is the exact point that you are trying to get across?

What "talent"??? All I did was follow instructions, that's it...THAT was my point.
