HTC Touch - Tri-band an issue?

After playing with the HTC Touch from Sprint, I realized its a pretty nice device. I am not a real fan of windows mobile, but it somewhat comes close to my iPhone with the touch ability.

My one concern is that it is Tri-band 900/1800/1900 and at times, in my girl's basement, my iPhone doesn't get reception too well, nor do any of my Pearls. Aside from her house, I am usually not too far from a window and if I'm indoors, my signal doesn't have to penetrate too much. Does anyone have this device and if so, how is the signal?

Although I have sprint, I really don't want to use it on sprint.

I thought the GSM Touch was quad band even though it is listed as tri band? there was a extensive thread about this in the PocketPC Forum here; do a search, if memory serves me correctly you had to update the radio rom to get the 850 to work.
