Nope the w580 does not have wifi. You would need a phone that has wifi to use with wifi.

not wifi, but theres no way to make it go through my own settings rather than att's proxy?

No, you're got to go through AT&T's proxy. I swear I remember answering a similar questin to this not too long ago. Oh well.

When you are at home, why not use your computer? Your wireless phone can only connect via the GSM network.

I don't use media net so I don't know how that would play into what you want to do. I connect to the internet at home all the time to install and take a look at different apps using a bluetooth connection to my desktop PAN profile. You can do it with your at&t branded w580. I use the BlueSoleil v3.2. I never could get it to work with the newer version of the software, v5 something. Once PAN is configured with the phone all you have to do is have a profile setup with the desktop bluetooth as the data connection along with the internet and java. I mainly setup my GPS program, Mobile GMaps using a bluetooth GPS receiver. I also use opera mini. You have to have a unbranded phone to connect to the bluetooth GPS.

Why go through all that trouble to view the Internet on a two inch screen when you are within ten meters of a computer? Since you do not have MEdia Net, there is nothing on MEdia Net you want to see.

To give the OP more information.
To answer your question - Because I want to.
