Hey peoples, has anyone figure out how to reprogram/hack the shortcut keys to point to something other than the defaults, in particular the notepad?

I am assuming you mean on the enV VX9900 (not VX990).

Silver enV - Nope can't be done
Orange and Green enV - Yes, don't need a hack, built into the phone.

Most of use with the silver enV are waiting to see if the orange or green enV firmware gets leaked so we can re-flash our phones to get this feature, and the clock screen saver too. At this time we can't get the firmware, so no one has tried it, it is ASSUMED that it can be done.

Personally, I am still of the impression that there may not be a new firmware release, which means that we may never get those extra features, because (or so I have been told) that in order for the firmware to leaked, it needs to be updated and new release come out first. The phone is already very stable and generally trouble and bug free, so they may not update the firmware if there is no reason too.

So basically, no, there is no hack, we just need to wait.

I just reread your post, and I may have misunderstood your question, if so, ignore my first reply.

If you have a Orange or Green enV with a definable shortcut key, your only choices are the ones Verizon gives you, I haven't seen or heard of anyone being able to set these up as something else. These functions are hard coded in the firmware itself. Changing this would require editing the firmware itself, not just a simple hack, and no one has done it yet to my knowledge. Verizon does have the firmware itself locked down very well, its one of the things they do quite well.

Thanks, I kind of figured that but since I couldn't find anything definite I had to ask.
