after getting my phone flashed, by virtual dynamix (thanks to rick paul) , i was going through the new features in the R2D update and found that the mp3 player available even with the flip closed, but after i did a restore i lost the feature and have no idea how to get it back, unless i switched back to uk english, even a master reset wont correct the problem. any body noticed this?

XPMILLINIUM, shame on you You are not to perform a restore after a flash upgrade.

, i really didnt know that.

XPMILLINIUM,

There are two modes in the audio player, one is a playlist, and one is a preview. If you are in preview mode, you can only listen to the music when you are on that preview screen. If you go to playlist mode, then you can play the music with the flip closed.

You can switch modes by clicking on the boxes on the bottom left of the player. The box with the musical notes is the one that will allow you to play mp3's with the flip closed.

You may have to edit your preferences to see mp3's in this mode.

thanks rickpaul, but im not talking about playing the music, im talking about accessing the audio application with the flip closed using the jog dial, this is part of the new update, but after doing a restore ( after R2D update) i can't see the application anymore, and the only way to get it back is to switch the phone from american english to UK english.

and i forgot to mention that i no longer have the new cda version R3A12 and now is back to R1J01. very strange. so i recommend every one to do a fresh instal after upgradin to R2D.

When doing a restore files get overwritten. One of which is the cda version text file. Your CDA may not have been downgraded, it may have just been your text file that got overwritten.

Ques: If I only backup the contact list and get the firmware update then restore those contacts will I have the same problem as XPMILLINIUM...the missing mp3 player icon when the flip is closed ?

Posted by: rickpaul

You should only see those problems when doing a system backup/restore. If you sync contacts, calendar, and notes you wont see those problems.

Guys, i wonder why u guys want to perform backup - restore things. just backup yoour contact agenda and jotter (if u want) on your outlook. once u upgrade your firmware, just re-install all application back. U wont get all the trouble...

thanks

It took a lot of "fiddling" to get all the settings right and the phone working correctly. To have to go back and re-do them all is a big hassle. This is what is keeping me from flashing. I saw a post on Esato, I'll try to find the link and post it here, that shows how to add a line of code in PC Suite that will keep the organizer version from reverting back when you do a restore.

i dun get the mp3player missing problem even after i restore the data onto the new r2d version.

Check out this thread about how to do selective backups.
