Touch "Today" Weather / T-Mobile

I am using a Touch on T-Mobile US and after updating the weather .XML file to include U.S. cities, I am able to get local weather here in Denver. However, it can only access the weather data when my Touch is connected to the Internet via WiFi. Access by GPRS via T-Mobile (unlimited Internet) works for web browsing, etc. but cannot access the Accuweather data.

Can anyone explain this or tell me how to configure my GPRS Internet access to get at this data?

You'll have to try try this. It's the only work around for weather updates on T-Mobile using the HTC plugin.

Thanks, but I was already aware of this. I don't like the idea of going through someone else's server to get the weather data.

I was hoping someone would explain why the Accuweather data can be accessed via WiFi on my Touch but not through T-Mobile GPRS which gives me Internet access to other sites without problems.

I don't know, but even with the proxy set up I still can't get updates unless I'm connected to my pc or via Wifi.

I wouldn't be too concerned about going through one of their servers as long as it works. Either that, or try one of the cooked Touch roms - of course you'll probably still be going through the same server as with the cab fix.

Somewhat related, is there a way to download other cities in Canada? Mine doesn't show and the nearest one is an hour and a half away.

Are you referring to the HTC Home Plug In, or do you have the Touch?

If you're talking about the plug in, you can go here to download a customizer that should help you.

If you're not talking about the plug in, then someone else will have to chime in here.

how did you update the weather XML? i have no idea on how to get the weather thing working, please PM for help! i have wifi at home and still cant use it
