I hope this is iPhone related enough for this forum.

My iMac is in the shop, my new Mac Book Pro has nothing in the iTunes library. I can't seem to find out how to upload the songs from my iPod Mini to iTunes so I can sync it with the iPhone.

Help? Without buying 3rd party software?

apparently.. apple says it should automatically prompt you
to upload those tunes

Try using something like YamiPod on your MBP to transfer the songs from the iPod mini. YamiPod is free, and other freeware tools exist that will do what you need.

iTunes will let you upload 'purchased' songs from the iPhone to your MBP, but it won't copy ones you ripped from CDs or obtained through 'other' means...
