A lot of people have been saying a new iPhone will come out in January. I've really been wanting an iPhone but 8 GB is barely enough space for me, and if there's a decent chance a new one is coming out in January I'll wait for it, otherwise I'll get one for Christmas. What are the chances of a new one coming out in a couple months?

no one really knows for sure except for Apple of course. I doubt they would release a new model when the current iPhone isn't even a year old yet. I wouldn't b surprised if they rolled out a 16gig version at a premium price sometime in the future though. But as for a 2nd gen iPhone, I don't think there will b any news of it until the 2008 holiday season

One thing I can say, I highly doubt Apple will do an announcement in January with a released in June. They can't do that the second time around because it'll canabilze sales of the current model. If I had to bet money, I'd say the next iPhone, with 3G, will be a game time decision. They need to wait for AT&T to get their network upgraded more. They also will wait for better battery consumption 3G chips. That's my two cents.

i voted no but thinking about it... after one year, i can see them coming out with a 16gb iphone with memory being the only improvement in hardware.

3g i would say not until 2nd half of next year and probably not more than that... and possible more memory again. everything else like flash and a2dp and 3rd party stuff is sw upgradeable. i dont see gps in the near future. just my guesses.

Definitely not me. I voted no cause I don't think Apple will alienate their customer base twice in 6 months. The price drop really did cause a stink, and this would alienate not only the early adopters but those that bought iPhones during the X-Mas shopping season.

Maybe the anniversary mark we'll see improvements (I doubt 3G will be one of them, though), not January.

I would love to know whom exactly you are referring to when you say "alot of people?!"

Oh yeah, whats the latest on the "Red" iPhone? I haven't heard anymore about it; is it still scheduled for release?

I agree with that other guy. A memory upping is not a "new phone". It would take something major like 3G, GPS, etc. to qualify as a new phone, IMO.

My guess is late spring/early summer. It will be good timing since the SDK will have been out a few months and third party apps. should be exploding.

I'm going to have to go with everyone else and vote no. If they announced it in January at MacWorld and didn't release it until June, there would hardly any sales from that date until the new version. I expect it to be the way the iPods are., announced one week and in stores and online the next.

Couldnt agree more, and I also agree with the "not right after xmas" post above. How pissed would all the gift givers be if they spent 399 on an iPhone for little Jimmy, and then a month later a 16gb comes out? Late next year is my guess, if at all.

People that are voting Yes apparently dont know what it takes to manufacture and market a new phone
