Question about unlocking

If I unlock my iPhone, is there anyway to go back to a locked state incase the phone screws up and I need a warranty repair? Also, if the phone is unlocked, will I still be able to use it on the AT&T network? I ask this because I am traveling to Hong Kong in December, and I wanted to get as prepaid sim while in Hong Kong so I could still use my iPhone. Thanks!

well unlock does mean you can use with ANY SIM, so yes!

Yes you can

Ok, would I do that by simply restoring to 1.1.1? I just want to use it for two weeks in Hong Kong, then come back, and have it back on the AT&T network with no problems. Thanks for the info.

You don't need to re-lock it to use it on the AT&T network when you come back.

And there's an app in installer.app (LockDownD) that will undo the activation and simply re-lock the iPhone. No need to do a full restore.

BUT, seriously, once you unlock it, you do not need to re-lock it to use it on AT&T. An unlocked GSM phone (and GSM phone, including the iPhone) can be used on any GSM network.

I'm just going to put in my two cents here:

If you unlock with AnySIM 1.1 (and run either FM Version 1.1.1 or 1.0.2), just restore to 1.1.2 before you return the phone to the store and you should be good

Ok, so I just use the AnySIM 1.1 in the Installer app, so I don't have to pay anything? Thanks.
