The rep at BB was all about activating the phone there, so I went along. Got a lady on the phone and said I will be charged, argued with her and nothing. The rep got into an arguement with her so we just stopped the activation. Phone is getting kinda hot. Called up again and got a diff person, activated phone, no fee when asked. Phone is now pretty damn hot.

But my phone is not working yet, says not activated when I dial. Now on ALL of my other new phone upgrades I could dial out from my new phone instantly. I know that it could take up to two hours, just wondering if this is a trend with the 8100.

TIA

BTW I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!

Others have reported that the reps sometimes forget to tell you to program the MSID (which is now separate from the MIN). If so, your phone will not work until programmed properly.

This is fairly new. On "older" phones, the MSID was automatically filled with the MIN if not otherwise programmed.

Less than 1 minute for the voice and the Vision to be 100% functional.

Yes, the 8100 gets hot, while the 5300 does not.

I gotta wonder why the 8100 doesn't get hot. I know the 5150 didn't, and my 5300 certainly doesn't. Sheesh I was interested in getting one for my girl...but now I'm going to wait a few weeks for the kinks to get worked out.

They should have told you that on the phone. I have read here in a couple of places that they are not telling people. Now I will know to check when I get mine.

This happened to me me, too. Fortunately, I had read about this on one of these forums before I called to activate my phone. The rep suspected my activation didn't go through the first time (when I just followed her directions, which didn't include entering in the MSID), so she had me do a test call while still on the phone with her on my home phone. It didn't work, which is when I mentioned the MSID thing I read about online. So she had me go through the steps again, but this time I put in my phone number for the MSID. Worked like a charm! By the end of the call, she was thanking me for teaching her something new!! :-)

I just went through this same thing activating the 8100. Thanks for posting this topic so I knew to enter the # in two times. It worked immediately after that.
