if you didn't have the iPhone...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: locurafan

what phone would you be using right now?

I'd have the Blackberry Curve

Posted by: soulweaponry

I don't like to think about life without my iPhone or as I like to call it "my favorite child", but if I got something else I'd have to go for the htc tilt. That thing is a beast

Posted by: blackraven

If I didn't have an iPhone, I would probably be in a different forum right now...

...& I would be using smoke signals

Posted by: jediistar

Second vote for the curve.

Posted by: czechsmola

i would still be using my treo 650

Posted by: Eddystone

I'll be using this

Posted by: Flyinace2000

Probably the Nokia e65 or some other S60 phone

Posted by: MacGeek15

i would be getting an HTC TyTn 2
was about to get it as I was really into WM, but then got the iPhone to try something new and never looked back

Posted by: |Leumas|

Nokia N95, Nokia E61i or Blackberry Curve

Posted by: That70sGAdawg

Red Curve 8310 (with GPS) , or the new Motorola Q 9h I'm checking out now...

Posted by: cowboy1964

The Curve or the Tilt. I probably wouldn't like either as well as the iPhone or I would have switched by now.

Posted by: rstroud

The Curve without a doubt. I would probably go with the 8320 and get it unlocked so I could have wifi.

Posted by: KDarling

If on ATT, it'd be the Tilt.

Being able to use 3G while talking on the phone? Priceless.

Plus there are so many touchscreen friendly mods now for WM, it's getting pretty fun.

Just wish the USA would get VGA screen devices.

Posted by: tvp125

If i didn't have the iPhone i would be using the Nokia E62

Posted by: coinstar99

Yep, gonna have to say a Tilt or a Curve . I don't know if I would be as happy, just haven't thought about it . I would have to say first choice would be the Tilt, I like the keyboard .

Posted by: jwmcgee1

I have an iPhone (which I love) but also got a tilt for the hell of it. I switch back and forth. I will say that after the iPhone the WM phone feels like a dinosaur. I just wish the iPhone had GPS.

Posted by: Red Setter

No iPhone? UnPossible.

But if it were to happen I'd be using my BB Curve 8320.

Posted by: joecartoon22

tilt or that touch cruise that is coming out...

Posted by: Bigphun73

I would be using my blackjack or I would have ordered a refurbished curve from the premier site for 30 bucks.

I'd probably be using the Blackjack alot too. I got one as a backup and I like it, I'd probably get me the Tilt on AT&T since Verizon (where I switched from) will never ever release the XV 6800 in our lifetimes.

Posted by: melmac

Had the Tilt, returned it for an iPhone and never looking back to WM. So I'd probably be using my Moto V8 if the iPhone wasn't around.

Posted by: amkls704

probably my samsung sgh-d807 because no matter what, that phone was a soldier and i loved it

Posted by: n2dust

I hate to think of not having mine, but if I didn't, I'd be back to multiple devices... An iPod, a Newton, and a Nokia 6600.

Well, if the Newt wasn't enough I suppose a Palm TX would suffice.

Posted by: dsigma6

Probably a Nokia N series or an E61...even though I don't want to be a Nokia owner again.

Posted by: bikepunkboy

nokia 1100. really.

Posted by: Kolt Seavers

Either N75 or Red Curve for AT&T or Helio Fin...

Posted by: scaredpoet

I'd probably still be using my BlackJack, though I'd be drooling over the N75 that a friend of mine uses currently.

The N75 is still an interesting phone for me, and that says a lot considering I haven't really liked Nokia phones in a long time. However, the iPhone still trumps it in my opinion. The interface, the web browser, and especially the mail client are just perfect for me.

Posted by: myztikal47

Either back to the 8525 or probably the new 8925....

Posted by: Quake97

N95 here.

Joe

Posted by: thadoggfather

Probably Curve or some Sony Ericsson...

Posted by: aaryque

n95, or t-mobile shadow!

Posted by: BornineastLA

N95 8gb.

Curve or N95....probably the curve!

Posted by: Treo 750 unlock

htc touch.

was going to get it before the iPhone. but the iPhone is so much better.

duh!

Posted by: dwest218

nokia n82 that is coming out this month. I keep telling myself to just wait till iphone2 or the SDK is released. It will be very interesting to see what comes out with the SDK. with the full apple platform running underneath then I think next year will make the iPhone even bigger news.

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

I would have my blackjack.

Posted by: marktang

i would be using some HTC phones...probably TyTn 2

Posted by: calvinpesh

Prolly a sidekick

Posted by: GT-[R]

it would be either nokia n81, n95 8gb or htc touch
those were my choices before i stumbled upon a good local deal for an iphone, i really love the robust web browser and multimedia... although itunes is kinda lame :P

Good choice. I blew off the iPhone for the 8310 Curve...and don't regret it for a minute. I actually traded my first BlackBerry...the 8300 Curve, for my first iPhone, and have kicked myself in the butt ever since.

I'm not slamming the iPhone...but I had my issues with it, although I know some are still blissfully happy with theirs. For me, the romance was lust and not love...and the attraction wore thin quickly...

The BlackBerry does what it does better than any other device out there...and the 8310 is sexy and cool besides. Frankly, my red 8310 gets more attention than the iPhone does now...since the iPhone seems to be the new Razr, and everybody and his dog has one.

My old Treo 750, which I flipped on ebay for basically what I paid for it (~ $350, though I paid for the BSE and a 2 gb memory card). About the only thing now the Treo does that my iphone can't is stream the internet radio stations I used to listen to (.pls files). I use my old Tungsten T5 from medical school to keep my medical reference books on, so I don't have to pay skyscape to rape me up the *** in that arena. I'm very satisfied! YAY APPLE

I agree, it is an interesting one - I wish I had gotten the N75 as my "pre-iPhone, switching to AT&T" phone. Seems like it would be usable as a "backup" phone (or the going-out-to-the-bar-and-am-scared-about-losing-my-iPhone phone) and also a good 3G tethering phone.

Maybe I've got a few phones around here I can dig up and sell, and get the N75 instead. Anyone wanna by a barely used Blackjack?? :-)

Posted by: IFryRice

I'd get out of AT&T, go back to Sprint or Verizon and get the V9m. Yes, I know Verizon doesn't offer the V9m.

Posted by: Doutreo

MY TRUSTY OLD TREO.

me too...until Palm came out with something new.

Posted by: Kolt Seavers

Nokia N95-3

Posted by: Amw3000

HTC S620...no more blackberries for me. I really have lost the need for PUSH mail since I have my Fujitsu U810 or the X60 with telus WWLAN. Although I am thinking of getting the S620 as a backup anyways.....

Posted by: damnyooneek2

the blackberry curve

Posted by: bootycancer

Hmmm..
IMO, there's two different ways to look at it.

As far as a functionality comparison
RAZR, maybe,possibly a RAZR2

As far as the price comparison
any normal PDA/smartphone

I will say that I personally think the Iphone stinks. I am impressed by the multi-touch and beautiful GUI. But to me, that stuff is impractical, when so much is missing out of a cellular device. I might be a little less critical, had it been advertised as an IPOD with cellular service. Not a cellular phone with an Ipod. IMHO

I use a HTC 8525 in it's place. The Gui stinks, but it does the job of a full out PC without limitations, and why I use my Iphone, solely, as an Ipod for the time being.

Good thing you're not biased...

Posted by: BethanyBoo

I would have stuck with Verizon and gotten whatever good phone was available in July.. they didn't have many options until all the new LGs came out.

Posted by: nicktuso

I would have either the N95-3 or the K850i. Only for the camera feature really.

Posted by: Dewars

Nokia N95-3/8GB

I'd have the HTC touch Cruise or the BB Curve

Sidekick, the new one, i dont know what its called. but yea that one. :/

Posted by: E.V.

what do you guys like about the curve so much besides the obvious email????

Posted by: waxmerchant

well i still use my 8310 Curve since i still enjoy it so much.

I like the curve because it comes with GPS and applications for chat. Also the way it feels in my hands is great and the buttons are just the right size. As we speak I have my iphone on rest and have been using my 8310 for the week. The curve comes with a media player and decent headphones as well. So that means movies, music and pictures. I feel the OS is as good as the iphone. I am just totally agaisnt Windows on a phone! Hope that answers your question why I like the curve so much

Posted by: bigdave_1586

I'd have a RAZR 2 since my v3 died (err... got washed)

It does everything perfectly well. The keyboard is extremely user friendly(even for one hand typing). Its hackable. It actually feels like a smaller phone when you hold it to your head. Very pocketable. Holds up to drops and falls better than any other phone Ive had. Rollerball makes navigation through the UI very easy.

Im sure theres tons more but Im having a hard time convincing myself to move on to the touch cruise. I cant imagine having anything more in a phone that I need than what the curve provides.
