My bad to 1.0.2 users : I DID THE UP TO 1.1.1 Sucessful story!

Hi guys,

10 min ago i wasnt in the mood of doing the 1.1.1 upgrade (i had the 1.0.2 jailbreaked and iUnlocked).

and i said : ''u know, this is a new challenge, u cannot mess up ur iphone anyway''

...so i did it!!

i followed everything from : http://iphone.ranova.org/ (THE RANOVA GUIDE)

and it worked perfectly for the virginizer process, as well as the jailbreak.

here is how i did (for 1.0.2 users who might be interested in doing it)

1) before doing anything, i puted the original ATT sim card, and moved my rogers one off the iphone.

2) i did the virginizer process on ranova's guide (took 10min)
3) i manually upgraded to the 1.1.1 firmware on itunes.

what i did is : i downloaded the 156Mb ''restore 1.1.1 file'' from modmyiphone.com (u can find the exact link here : http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/do...php?do=cat&id=6 )

then, i opened itunes, pressed ''shift+restore'', and you can manually locate the 1.1.1 file to let itunes do the auto upgrade for u.

4) i did the auto jailbreak on ranova's site. worked like a charm in 1min!!
5) i pluged my iphone to itunes again, and surprise, it asks me if i want to restore my old settings (aka contacts, mail etc..), of course, i said YES !

6) i unlocked via ANYSIM 1.1 (make sure u have BSD System installed!!)

7) i didnt even have to do the youtube fix as it was working, as well as the itunes store.

8) i am enjoying so much !!

VERDICT :

a) 1.1.1 seems to have louder sound, but it doesnt matter in my case as i was using a tweak on 1.0.2

b) the menu seems faster also.

c) i hated the fact u could ''pay'' for the song inside the itunes store, but now u can hear a sample before buying (in fact would be good if it was ''free'')

d) u can re-organize the wheather, stock and contacts infos.

e) home button ''double click'' feature is nice

AND MOST OF ALL : IBRICKR 0.91 RUNS VERY WELL (make sure u have the latest FRAMEWORK INSTALLED!!)

the only regret : the summerboard 1.1.1 edition disables the vertical scrolling, and u cannot hide the dock!!

i know many of u will ask how it was possible i didnt fix youtube and it was working, well, i think that when i first unlocked my 1.0.2 iphone, i runned PACAYACTIVATE.BAT and it somehow been stored in the memory or something.

i would suggest to run it again if u meet problems.

EDIT : when i tap the voicemail button, nothing happens. i tried the manual fix in which u type the *5005*... but it doesnt do anything.

any help would be appreciated.

EDIT 2 : nvm i just discovered the number for rogers voicemail is as follow :

*5005*86*5148271251#

i used to put the ''1'' before 514 so it didnt work.

NOW IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!!

Thank you very much for your instruction. This is just exactly what I am looking for.

I have just upgraded to 1.1.1 from my 1.0.2 unlocked with old anysims, and it works very well. Syncing my songs onto it now.

Youtube works without activation too. Have to check my Fido voicemail later on.

Why update to just 1.1.1 when you can go all the way and update to 1.1.2 and unlock it

thats what i am planning to do later on...just having the time to check 1.1.1 stability.

no prob dude. i was bored of the multi opinions i found in Hofo and other forums, so i decided i would check in myself. and thx to ranova, geek and many other i could do it safely.

now, the only thing is that ringtones menu doesnt work under ibrickr.. it permits u to upload the custom ringtone, but it doesnt show up in the iphone ringtone menu.

any idea how to put ringtone in 1.1.1 ?

Also i noticed the ringtones under 1.0.2 were .m4a files, where in 1.1.1 they are m4r

I just upload a patch MeCCA file using ibrickr, and renamed my .m4a ringtone to " .m4r".

It works. here is the info:
