So are there any 4GB versions left anywhere? I don't need 8GB and if I can save $100 bucks - I will.

I keep checking Apple Refurb because people say they show up every now and then...but I've seen nothing...

Good luck finding one, but honestly, I'd say just spend the extra $100 and double the storage space. I mean, why not?

Chances are you'll need it anyway.

Check The Apple Store online for 4gb refurbs. They're $299 and indistinguishable from a new model. They tend to go quickly so youll have to check everyday.

Everyone will tell you to pay the extra $100 for an 8gb, but if you don't mind managing your playlists a little more carefully then go for it.

IMHO, $50 less than a brand-new 8gb is not worth it, "extras" or not. But that's just me...

Same feelings here. Might as well get a 8gb and enjoy the extra space.
It's not like you are saving 50% by stepping down in capacity.

I've got a 4 gig (got it 2 days before they ran out of new ones at the apple store, lucky eh??) and I don't really mind the small storage. I have so much music I'd have to pick and choose what I wanted for the 8gb model too so I figured I'd save a $100. I don't put any movies on it, just MP3's and I can store around 650 with all of them being 192kbps bit rate or higher.

But I just ordered a PooPoo Brown Zune 30gb from Amazon.com for $68.99 with free shipping. The catch is that they don't ship until Dec. 24th - which is cool cause i can wait.

I bought two yesterday morning from the refurb site. This is after almost a month of checking it every day.

Now I am worried that the Black Friday sale will have a better deal - like an 8gb for 299.

I am told that I can by apple.com chat session when I ordered.

I am kinda hoping that I don't have to.

Not to mention I JUST ordered them. I would then have to purchase AGAIN and wait for them to arrive then return. I will just cross that bridge IF I get there.

Just picked one up, I'm glad I got in on time...they go QUICK!

Anyway, I'm assuming these will have an unlockable baseband since they have been in production for quite some time...

They'll most likely be at 1.1.2, but that shouldn't be a problem, the baseband is the real issue at hand anyway, a simple downgrade should suffice.

Let's see what Apple brings to the table for Black Friday, maybe the 8GB will get a nice little discount. Either way, I'm in.

I bought a 4gb refurb from the apple online store this morning, it kinda sucked cause it was $299 just like the 4gb brand new, but hopefully it works fine. I kept looking for a good5-6 hours and when I woke up this morning, it showed they had some. About 10mins after I bought my iphone it said they didnt have anymore lol.

Yeah, same here - for the most part, the refurbs that come in are "like new", free of scratches, smudges, knicks, knacks, you name it.

The advantage to these, I'm sure, is that they will be unlockable now, no need to wait fo the new bootloader to be open up.

Mine should be here early December.
