A buddy of mine just upgraded his 1.1.1 up to 1.1.2 He hadn't unlocked it yet. Can he downgrade back to 1.1.1 or 1.02, unlock and jailbreak and then re-upgrade to 1.1.1 or has he screwed up the unlock by going to 1.1.2?

thx

update:

grabbed the phone from him last night. Restored to 1.1.1 and then to 1.02. downgraded baseband to 3.14, jailbreaked and upgraded to 1.1.1 and baseband 4.01. jailbreaked again at 1.1.1 and ran anysim 1.1. All is well. Didn't take it further than 1.1.1. Thx for the help.

Why not? It probably would have taken you less time to have worked with the 04_02_13G baseband. All you needed to do was unlock on 1.1.1 or 1.0.2 and then upgrade to 1.1.2 and jailbreak.

But as long as it's working!

didn't know that. I was under the (obviously incorrect) assumption that the newest baseband was a problem (not unlockable). After doing a bunch of reading I see it's the bootloader, not baseband, that's the problem. thx for the info.
