I was hoping that 10.2.5 combined with the R2A firmware would finally enable the Address Book to function properly over Bluetooth. Of course, it doesn't though.
I can still transfer vCards as I always have, but I still can't dial out, send an SMS, or answer/reject calls.
If anyone can shed any light on this topic, please do.

I'm still running R1D phone software and Bluetooth R2C on Mac 10.2.5 and have the symptoms that you describe from the R2 firmware upgrade. I'm not going to rush around and upgrade now based on your report.

I can only get address book connectivity by exporting vcards. I have, on very rare occasions, been able to "send this card" via address book but most times the phone just ignores the upload request.

Does anyone know what the P800 support in 10.2.5 actually changed? The bluetooth connection stays linked in address book now but it still doesn't do anything.

According to this article, http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/39/30202.html. Apple has to have a new version of iSync.

Yeah. I have heard about a new version of iSync which is said to be SyncML compatible and therefore should work better with a few phones instead of just the T68i.

It still doesn't quite explain why the Bluetooth components don't seem to work using things like Bluetooth File exchange. Most options are greyed out.

The Address Book functions I'm talking about have nothing to do with iSync. None of them utilize SyncML.

For example, the Nokia 7650 and 3650 work with Address Book, but have yet to be supported in iSync.

I agree. It's the Bluetooth bits that aren't working the way they should.
