first off I would like to say hello to all who opened this thread im a n00b here and have a couple questions regarding the Iphone.

1. If I purchase a 1.1.2 OTB with new 4.6 boot loader can I....
A. Still add 3rd party apps and my own made ringtones to my phone

B. Activate with AT&T? (meaning I dont want to unlock the phone)

C. And if A & B are possible which do i do first?

2. I have Itunes version 7.5 Is this the correct version to have? or does this even matter?

any help is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

Both are possible!

Ringtones are the least important. Do that last.

Activate with AT&T (Connect to iTunes and follow the on screen instructions)

Jailbreak for 3rd party apps (Red any one of the millions of posts on this forum pertaining to JAILBREAKING 1.1.2 ONLY. You don't need to unlock.)

but can you use another already activated AT&T SIM card...? not the one included with the iphone...

IIRC, you'll have to downgrade to 1.1.1 first and install oktoprep before you'll be able to jailbreak 1.1.2

Also, with 1.1.2 & iTunes 7.5 you won't even need to jailbreak to add your own ringtones.

Correct. if all you want to do is add your iwn ringtones you can do that quite easily without doing a thing to the phone

Just create a ringtone, save it as an MP3, import it to iTunes as an MP3, convert it to AAC and then change the extension from M4A to M4R. Reimport the M4R file to iTunes and voila. An iTunes sync'able ringtone

Sounds like a lot to do but it's not really. They're all very quick steps. And it's a lot less than jailbreaking a phone.
