Hi,

I have used this forum alot for different phones and it has served me well! So, I'm posting a tutorial i wrote on how I got my 1.1.1 iPhone unlocked and running 1.1.2.

I've tried to include tons of screenshots so newbies can follow this from start to completion without reading elsewhere. I hope its useful to someone!

http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=358

Thanks

I just looked over your Guide and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the depth of this Guide. Great Job!

That's awesome!!! I hope noone trying to upgrade their 1.1.2 iphone is using dialup to browse that page though

Posted by: slevytam

i most likely will write a windows version but i need some sleep first - lol.

Posted by: MacGeek15

One thing though, you don't give special thanks to the developers ie. iPhone Dev Team, etc for their effort haha

No biggie though, it's still a great guide!

Posted by: slevytam

really good point! i was up all night doing this and then went straight to work. it slipped my mind.

i have added a thank you at the end. not sure the names of everyone to thank though :S

that was a great guide, well done. How did you get the drop shadows on your screen shots? They look great!

One thing I would say is that if independence at any point does not recognize the phone just unplug and replug the USB instead of restarting the phone, works every time.

And a question, let's assume I do all this and have an unlocked 1.1.2 which I bugger up and need to restore! Do I have to go through all this again?

Posted by: jmavra

So I just want to make sure I get this right.

I have an iphone with 1.1.1 jailbreaked and unlocked using anysim.
So do I start by upgrading my phone to 1.1.2 (which would then lock the phone), and then continue with Step #1?

Nice guide but no props to any of the Dev's

One thing about your guide; couldn't you have downgraded all the way to 1.0.2 from 1.1.2 and unlock rather than downgrading to 1.1.1 then 1.0.2 and unlock? It's just a bit more work for nothing. I've tried this with my Guide and it works

GeeK.dll, The props are at the bottom of the tutorial!

XanderMac, The drop shadows are obtained by using Command+Shift+4 then Spacebar then click the window.
i can't really say what would happen if you screw up 1.1.2. Depends what you do i guess.

jmavra, you have to make sure your iPhone is using modem firmware 04.02.13_G for anySIM 1.2 to work. This is what updating to 1.1.2 first accomplishes.

MacGeek15, good point. I'll have to try this tomorrow. I just posted my first experiences. I'm sure there are probably even more ways to optimize this... Thanks for the feedback.

Why even do that just downgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 then unlock it works perfectly. Follow my guide it will guide you...Let the force be with you:

http://wiki.howardforums.com/index....ngrade_to_1.1.1

And yes if you must ask were working on the unlock for OTB 1.1.2.

Nice, I am excited! My 1.1.2 iPhone is an iPod touch right now, unless I go to the states and use my AT&T paygo. Makes me want to find a reason to go stateside...

GeeK.dll, you could just downgrade to 1.1.1 and run anySIM. But if you run anySIM 1.1 as per your guide you won't be able to upgrade back to 1.1.2.

Also the reason my tutorial downgraded all the way back to 1.0.2 is because anySIM 1.2 runs the most stable on that. (According to Elite Dev Team). Im sure most people would be fine without going to 1.1.1 but was trying to make the instructions would work 100% of the time!

anySIM 1.2 works great on 1.1.1 I have used it pleanty of times I can confirm it works great.

If your going to unlock a iPhone that didnt come with 1.1.2 OTB then all you need to do is update to 1.1.2 then downgrade it to 1.1.1 then unlock it with anySIM 1.2 then prepare it for the 1.1.2 jailbrake, Then update to 1.1.2 then jailbreak it at 1.1.2 that all you should beed to do to have a unlocked, activated, iPhone.

Posted by: slevytam

Just wanted to let anyone know who is lucky enough to still have an old bootloader that I've updated these instructions to only require a downgrade to 1.1.1.

This should make things simpler and quicker. If anyone knows how to edit the title or body of my original post in this thread please let me know...

PS. If you notice any problems with the tutorial let me know as I wasn't able to thoroughly test due to lack of an old phone!

let me get this straight. in order to get an unlocked iphone on 1.1.2, all you have to do is:

1. update to 1.1.2 using itunes
2. downgrade to 1.1.1 using your guide
3. run anysim 1.2
4. update to 1.1.2 (i'm assuming using itunes)
5. jailbreak/activate 1.1.2 and done?!

this seems a bit too simple, does it? how long would it take to these steps? thanks so much!

Chinkster01:

This does sound simple; I was reading the wiki guide to upgrading 1.1.2 but an confuse in step1-4 about DFU. I will be using windows. How does apptapp works? Do I need to installed to the phone and run it?

Maybe Geekdll can explain.
