i've tried this process several times. i have downloaded 1.1.1 firmware. did the hold HOME and POWER buttons to go to recovery mode. once i get here i use itunes to restore firmware 1.1.1. Then i get error message 1015. the phone restarts and shows a music note over a CD with the data cable coming in from the bottom of the screen. (no idea what this image is for). from here i am unable to do anything else except reload 1.1.2 back to the phone and start over. i have also tried 1.0.2 and then use winstaller and AppTappInstaller. once i get to firmware 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 i can never get my wireless service to work.

i can then jailbreak the phone while in 1.1.1 using wifi. then install oktoprep so i can go back to 1.1.2.

as soon as i go back to 1.1.2, its like i originally started. jailbreak isnt installed anymore, nor any other programs that i put on the phone.

what am i doing wrong ???

When you are back to 1.1.2 after all the steps you should use the jailbreak pack, there's a file in there called windows.bat... run it with your phone connected and follow the onscreen instructions...

Just follow STEP BY STEP this guide:
Guide

i have followed that guide. i must be missing something. problem is that when i'm back to 1.1.2, the installerapp isnt there and i can't reinstall jailbreak

curious about step 4 in that link.

4. In order to kick the phone out of that mode I just had to launch iNdependence version 1.2.5 and wait a minute or so. If you are using iTunes 7.5 you will have to get a MobileDevice from a previousv version in order to run Independence. http://code.google.com/p/independence/

Windows users can try AppTapp v0.92: http://www.nullriver.com/~adam/AppTappInstaller.exe

************************

i am a windows user and when i use apptapp, it doesnt have firmware vs 1.1.1 listed... might this be causing the problem ?

on AppTapp you're supposed to use 1.0.2 firmware from the list...1.1.1 won't be listed

Posted by: silver350z

i get the error.

Sending to iPhone Failed

when i select 1.0.2,,,,

Posted by: silver350z

the iphone now says. waiting for activation. i loaded itunes and it's at the main screen asking if i want to restore a backup. Should i do this or is the iphone trying to activate right now ?

Posted by: silver350z

ok, now i got an activation alert, says no wireless service detected...

anyone ????

Posted by: kloquewerk

If its at the activation screen just follow the rest of the instructions.

Posted by: silver350z

read my last post, it says it cant activate.

Posted by: kloquewerk

you're trying to activate with iTunes?

Posted by: silver350z

yea, but the phone gives me the message. i used my wifi to go ahead and download jailbreak. did oktoprep. then loaded 1.1.2 back to the phone. everytime i do this it takes away the installer app

Posted by: silver350z

never mind guys, it works now. i just wasnt doing the last step.

Posted by: kloquewerk

it will always take it away when you upgrade or restore. correct me if I'm wrong people. You need to jailbreak again to get it back

Posted by: kloquewerk

ok you beat me to it. Glad to hear it works now...didnt I say to continue with the instructions??
