| Among the updates will be "a Curve with WiFi," according to Levy. These devices may have other updates like GPS location tracking |

RIM is going to maintain QWERTY and SureType models, while introducing Touchscreen models -- and probably the series beyond 9000 may contain at least one hybrid. I feel there will continue to be a BlackBerry model for everybody. Some of prefer keyboards, and others will prefer touchscreens. (Actually, for some people, the best of both worlds would be a Curve with a touchscreen that can be DISABLED on demand. Touchscreens are good for a few areas: Web browser, writing, etc, and multi-touch touchscreens are good for photos, zooming, zoom-capable browser, and other applications that benefit from a zooming .... Would only use the touchscreen for certain stuff, but disable it (via hotkey?) to avoid accidental taps, messups, etc.) RIM is becoming the New Nokia, and want to take 1% of cellphone market, 2% of cellphone market. RIM is aggressive going after the consumer market, and BlackBerry plan prices falling rapidly (new $15 Canadian BlackBerry plans), data can now be used without a BlackBerry plan (generic $5 data plans work on BlackBerry with third-party software), etc. RIM is going to keep QWERTY models, AND the SureTyple models, AND introduce touchscreen models. |
