Problem with writing chinese e-mail with P1i!

I've just got my P1i about a week ago with the chinese firmware already installed. When I go to hotmail to send a chinese e-mail by handwriting recognition, most of the time it will end in with "???" after I send it. I've tried selecting "text mode" and deselecting, but there's not really any difference. Wierd thing is that there was one occasion where it worked on a certain wi-fi spot. But that sounds alittle bogus, I mean wi-fi spots shouldn't determine if handwritten chinese can be read. What's the use of writing chinese when the other party sees only "???". MSN worked fine though. Is there a certain program that I have to install? Thanks!
