A friend of mine as a iphone he wants to sell and I'm thinking of buying it. Here is my issue.

I'm under contract with Verizon and I want to get the iphone set up as a prepay to try and see if the att coverage is good for where I need to use it. He will sell it to me for $75. And if it works good for me I would like to transfer my number over to the iphone. Any ideas on how to do this if this is even possible.

Also will any functions of the iphone be usable like the ipod portion since it was an active phone?

For 75$, if in doesn't work, just sell it on ebay

You can use anything on the phone but the text as well as the phone part, if its not activated

You can't go wrong!

Set up the phone under a prepaid account through iTunes (theres plenty of threads explaining how to do this). You'll have access to all the functions such as the ipod.

Once your friend terminates his account I doubt you'll be able to use the iPhone's functions until you either A) activate it or B) jailbreak it.

And yes, once your finished with verizon you can switch your prepaid account to a postpaid account and transfer your verizon number.
