The audio that is supposed to be recorded while recording video is most certainly a problem. It's far too low to be of any use. I've posted of that problem on Howard and asked for confirmations as well as help. I've notified Motorola and Bell (my carrier). Here a few responded with the same problem, in fact no one who responded did not have that problem. Motorola, at least the weirdo with whom I spoke, didn't seem to care -it was a thanks for calling, have a nice day thing. Bell technicians wouldn't talk to me until I swapped in-store for a new unit -which I did but I ended up with a real bad phone that turns off randomly and at times turns itself on. I tried to swap units again the next day but the store stunned me by saying since the problem is not on demand for me to show them Motorola wouldn't take a second DOA in two days from one customer. They informed me I have to "ride it out" -whatever that means. I'll not bother to call Bell again until the ride is over and I have a phone that works so I can report and ask questions about bugs and not failing hardware. [Today no one I speak to can properly hear me (though I hear them clear), saying I'm "garbled" or "under-water" sounding so that ride might be over.]

The audio notes recorder is a tricky one for me. I thought I had problems with it too. Once I'd used it a few times and realized it wasn't related to the video issue I realized I needed to listen to playback through the earpiece as if I was on a call or put the unit into speakerphone mode. The phone doesn't auto-switch to speaker for audio notes playback. So that one ended up, for me, not being a problem. Those are in fact loud and very clear.

Sorry I've blabbered on here, bit irritated at being treated like a fool over this phone for the past week. Bottom line is:

Try the audio notes playback on speakerphone or with your ear to the speaker, unlike listening to music. Mabye that'll give you better results.

And know everyone on Howard who speaks of video recording on the Z6m is experiencing the same problem low audio issue.

Since even the Bell store stock models that I've seen and asked to be tested (and Alltel ones too according to trainman7's OP) have the same issue and Motorola, Bell sellers and Alltel sellers are all still allowing sales of the model I am really hoping this is something they are expecting to be resolved through a software patch. Hate to believe they'd all ignore something hardware related.
