Paul at Modaco has worked all day on the crippled GPS and has created a CAB that app unlocks the phone and enables GPS use on com4 WITHOUT TeleNav! I have tested it with CamerAware, WLS and GPS Test and they all connect immediately! Way to go PAUL!!!

Wirelessly posted (MOT-Q9/01.04.35R Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; Smartphone; 320x240) Opera 8.65 UP.Link/6.3.1.17.0)

it works on my qh. the gps utilties i have works now ok
have a problem my data is not working. i removed it and my data works. something in the cab tweaked with my settings

Works great for me, first thing I looked for was GPS w/out TeleNav. Install his cab first, then reboot phone; set whatever app your using to com4 and your good to go.

Which GPS apps do you use that you can confirm are working?
For me...

WORKING:
CamerAware
GoogleMaps
Win Live Search
GPS Test

NOT WORKING:
Mapopolis
Vito Smart Navigator
Effica GPS Tools

Not sure what his cab did but I had to uninstall it off my Q9h as it started acting funny. I was thinking I was going to have to hard reset it. After uninstalling it, the phone is back to normal. With it installed I could not get anything to respond on COM4.

All right, after looking around some more, it seems that the Q9 Global's GPS is actually on COM5... and the data is on COM4... which is why your data isn't working. (I donno if it's the same for the Q9h, the european or canadian versions). Just changing it in the settings after installing it won't work. You have to tweak the registry.

~~~~~~~~IGNORE THIS AT THIS POINT~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OR... someone posted their version on rapidshare in that same thread. That is what I'm using temporarily until Paul puts up his version. It works fine for me with the rapidshare one. It seems that it tweaks the registry for you.
Once you install the cab file, power cycle the phone, open up Google Maps or whatever, Set it to COM5 19200 Baud for location settings, should have no problems. Locks onto 8 GPS satellites (INSIDE!!) within a few seconds. I freakin' love it.
EDIT: NEVER MIND!! Paul just posted his version. Ignore the whole thing about rapidshare.
Thanks a lot Paul. Really appreciate the work you've done on this considering you don't even have the phone yet. Have fun with it when you get one. I'll be keeping an eye on your site from now on...
Goodbye BJ2...Hello Q9H. I should have listened to Paul in the first place! He told me to get the Q first and now that I have, I couldnt be happier...especially with his patch!
You doubted me?
any chance this would work on a Moto Q9c?
Wait a minute....
You're all saying that the Q9h, like this one, has GPS integrated???
Unfortunately (for you I guess), the version you specified, which is the Euro model, does not have GPS built in. I think that particular feature is (currently) reserved for the North American market. Who knows what the future holds though. And as far as I know, it's not that it's disabled on the Euro models, it's just not integrated into the phone at all.
Well i'll be..... Its working. Sprint is just twisted. I bought my Mogul and it says GPS enabled yet it doesn't work at all unless you use the on demand thing. Then I buy this Q9c and it says nothing about GPS anywhere yet it works!
Posted by: MoDaCo
Did you need the patch?
P
Posted by: ikarma
Nope worked out of the box. I might just keep this sucker for a while!
It says it's GPS enabled on the back of the box.
