KRZR K1M - Weak battery?

Just bought a KRZR, charged it completely early yesterday morning and it's showing only 2 bars of battery strength right now. I would like to keep the phone, but I won't if the battery is that short lasting. This is on standby....didn't take any calls, play any games, etc. It's nowhere near the standby time it's reported by Motorola to have.
A family member has a RAZR and I tested theirs out - after 8 days on standby, still showed 1 bar.
Was wondering if others have KRZRs that last longer or if it's normal to have such a short battery life.

Does your phone switch between a green "D" and a red "EV" icon next to the signal strength meter at all?

No. I haven't seen either symbol show up at all. (Rural area.)

Then I would venture to guess that it's a bad battery. If you can get a battery from a friends KRZR, try that and see how it works out for you. If you get better battery life with a borrowed battery, you know that you have a bad battery. If it gets the same kind of battery life, I would start looking at the phone as a problem.
