Need Help with Ntt Docomo D905i... Unlocking

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: wolvorine4424

No, I did mean the pages... Not the application...

I have 2 versions of the pages. I think that the english version has less functions. but its there...

I will try the extra 0... hope it works.

The clip is easy.

all you need to do is turn on the phone and connect the clip. and press the botton on the clip. after that its just a couple of seconds.

I got the cards and the new programmer today. its the ultimate. now i know why they call it that... this thing can do everything.

I have started the precess again. so I hope to have some results in the next couple of days...

Still have not extracted the Ki from v2. Do not have the time to play with it for 6 or more hours strait... I should be able to use the whole day eather sat or sun for this purpose... I just need an active Ki to see if this actually works.

Ok, have to ask some friends if they have an older v1 SIM that works (active). so I can get the Ki number out and see if it does connect to the network...

Will keep you all posted.

wolvorine: just letting you know that D905i has been unlocked (95% stable)
with hypersim with some modification to it, its still being tested

(so as p905i, sh905i, n905i and f905i all unlocked at the same stage)
guess the newer hyper sim will be available near in future

Posted by: alan2000

There is a new hypersim for Docomo series now.
It is availible in HK at $500 HKD

but it does not work with all carrier.
the reason is unknown.

This hyper sim is not the one you mentioned above
this was done by one guy in Singapore, hes yet to release it
(he also created software to unlock SH905I)
looks like he will after some serious testing on it

Posted by: wolvorine4424

sounds good...

Do you think these people in Shinjuku would be able to unlock the D905i by now?

Posted by: wolvorine4424

Um, this site does not work...

crap... its .ne.jp

Isnt the ne.jp Japan's internal network???

I will try it with the phone and see. If the site is on the internal network, I should be able to connect to it because i'm with Docomo.

If it's true. I'm buying 10 phones as soon as I can connect or call them.

Why does the site not load???

EDIT:
I hope this helps someone...

http://www.tokyobikan.com/
http://www.tokyobikan.com/simrock.htm

Most of it is in Japanese...
The other 2 sites are closed down or in the internal network wich we do not have access to... inless you are in Japan.

OMG: I think they got arrested...

No, it's because they have a new site now. http://unlockers.blog65.fc2.com/ dunno what happened to their other one. I know ne.jp isn't internal only since I was able to access it from China (they have a location in Shanghai, China and a Chinese section of the website- it's gone now, though)

Posted by: wolvorine4424

I cant email them... The site is down and the email address is not updated...

Will try to call them sometime in the next day or so...

I want more phones...

Seems like they have discontinued their unlocking service as stated on the left hand menu panel.

The recent developments of docomo unlocking is exciting yet kind of confusing... apparently there are a few different directions out there

I assume GPRS/MMS is not working with this Hypersim, like usual, right?

I checked back to their Shanghai branch store when I found that bit of their webpage- it's gone (used to be near the train station for anyone who knows the area). That sucks.

Posted by: wolvorine4424

Correction... LOL

I feel stupid again.

My iMenu can be switched to English (where some settings are)
The iMode itself in all Japanese. this is where you download stuff from.
I guess its time to learn how to read. Just talking and understanding dosent cut it anymore...

Damn, This phone in complicated. Confuses the crap out of me sometimes...

P.S. No new progress yet. Still trying to find an v1 SIM that I can activate and test the SilverCard with...

EDIT:
I just tried using wmv, mov, avi, mp4 & 3gp video files. all failed...

are there any other formats a phone can use?

I know it can play video, just dont know how or the format. maybe they have to be DRM enabled files... or something.

Posted by: aw614

what about 3g2 video encoded files?

Some of the info there looks like settings for the converter or something.

I cant really read Japanese YET. Please assist me if you can and have time.

It looks like it lets me download a .INI file. just not sure what to do with it.

OMG: I'm getting dumber by the second... Why is this phone busts my chops?

EDIT:
Um, there are info on specific filenames and converting settings...
I will try it in the morning, I cant think now. Time to go to sleep.

Thank you for the link again. it looks like it will help me out. just need to figure out all the details and convert it correctly and then install it in the SD correctly...

1.4GB of music is installed now. Time to relax before work... Will post the detailes when i get to try it.

I'm looking at the manual and I can't find anything on reading video files, but there the ability to watch via video channel. It states in the manual "Music & Video Channel/Music Playback". Not too sure about it playing videos... but like I said, that's what I read in the manual. Perhaps it's somewhere else in there, I guess I'll read it a bit more.

Update:

If i connect the phone in MTP mode. I get the Video folder.

When I copy Video files they all go to the /MMFILES dir.
When I copy Audio files they all go to the /MMFILES/WM dir.

I found 3 videos on the phone (they are protected) all the info I got from them is:

Format: MP4
Sound: AAC
Size: 640x480

This is all i get, I cant copy it or anything to get more info from it. also I do not have access to the phone itself so I cant rip them eather. only access I have is to the SD card.

The 3gp converted files still do not show up in the menu of the phone.
Need to play with it more...

This phone is good and a pain.

Posted by: wolvorine4424

take a look at this...

Looks interesting.
http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/english/.../mp4/index.html

Site has specs and the process to create it.

Posted by: ImPoRt_TuNeR

Nice find! I think I'll take a look at this later on, looks interesting.

Posted by: wolvorine4424

I just resetted the phone and Master cleared it... NNNOOO

So now I have to redownload:

Chara-den
Machi-Chara
iAppli (most of them) Only ones I have are the DCMX, ID, FM Radio.
Lost all the Games, Hi-Speed, GPS Program, and Other Programs (never used, so not sure what they where)

Now all I have to figure out is:

How to use iMode to download it all back again.

this is an amazing thread. the d905i would be so sick to use here in canada! one suggestion, though:

i know you are busy working on this (btw, how far away would you say you are from making this 100%?), but i just read 29 pages of this and for the first time reader, it can be quite daunting. how about editing your first post with the major finds and things we need so people can go to them quickly?

wolvorine, you are a true pioneer. i can only guess how much time and money you have spent working on this phone alone and you are giving back to the community a huge deal. you should post your paypal for those who want to thank you (even though you don't want it, money _is_ useful ).

i hope one day shortly i can use this *** kicking phone here in toronto.
yellow or silver. this is my dilemma

Posted by: wolvorine4424

My email address is available to the Users here. Its the same as my PayPal. but WHY?

I cant Edit the First Page. Mod or Admin has to do this.

I Already recovered most of the Stuff I lost. This iMenu/iMode is useful and very interesting. After you get used to it.
I wish my US Tmo T-Zones was like that...

Posted by: wolvorine4424

here is what I lost.
http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/product/...i/contents.html

I already got the ID, DCMX, FMRadio, and GPS iAppli's back...

Atleast I did not loose all of my Ringtones.

I'm getting good on the iMode/iMenu already. I can find most of the stuff I want.
Except when I was just learning how to use it, i found a SEXY channel by mistake.
That was interesting. (all the HOT ladies in swimsuits, got my friends attention in a split second)
He started to play with tZones looking for it... Then he was pissed that its not there... lol

EDIT:
He just walked in... He is still PISSED...

EDIT2:
I addedd my email address to my Signature. In CP its set to allow emails, but when I clicked on it it told me the user does not want emails. So I just added it to the signature.

EDIT3:
So far I may have spent about 400 to 600 USD on hardware and cards. Not really sure on what I did spend. I did not keep the invoices or anything.

So far I have found 1 friend that still has a v1 SIM and its active. I have purchased a new sim for him just incase i kill it trying to get the Ki out. So its set for tonight. I hope it will work. Will update everyone after I try it and see if it works.

Out of curiosity, what are the roaming data charges like?

Posted by: wolvorine4424

Well... Sence I have been on it for the longest and tried every option till now.

I used up 100 USD over my plan. that includes all the iAppli i needed to redownload.

I will give you all a better explanation when I see my Ebill...

Posted by: yangj08

Oh, BTW- this is your phone, right? What does that button (the one that has a Z with an arrow through it and "A/a" under that) do?

Posted by: wolvorine4424

Lets see. where do I start.

I have tried over 40 different formats for the video. (that includes eather file type or change in bit rate and or codec)

So far none have actually showed up in the phone.

I'm suspecting it has to be DRM'ed or needs to downloaded using iMode.
I hope i'm wrong. I will do more research and see what I can come up with.
It would have been easier If i could actually get 1 of the videos that are in the phone now. But Docomo limited access to the phone (only to the SD card)...

Cant copy the files to SD eather. I will look around and find a video on iMode and download it to the phone and while downloading I will get a direct link to the file or the page i get it from. Hopefully I will be able to download it to the PC later and see what it is and how its coded...

Interested???

This one has lots of jobs. Will list the ones I know and used.

1. When you dial a number and instead of pressing call you press this one it starts Video call.
2. Speed Menu
3. Upper or Lower case while typing

This is what I found so far. I'm sure there are more uses for it, Just havent found any. Still learning.

The Video stuff is taking up most of my time now... This is the first phone that argues with me.

P.S. I will have my e-Bill in about 2 weeks. I will post info as soon as I get it.
Please dont forget, I'm on WorldWing so I get charged for almost everything.

Posted by: yangj08

On the 3GP videos- have you tried renaming them? If I remember correctly 3GP files have to be named in order- MOLxxx.3gp or something similar.

Oh, and does the FM radio tune all the way? I remember Japanese radio frequencies top out at 98.xMHz (and start in 7xMHz?) while most of the world goes up to 108.xMHz.

(and I'm just so indecisive about getting a DoCoMo phone- the F905i has a FM transmitter which I've always wanted and a SH905iTV-esque rotatable screen. On the other hand, the N905i has much better battery life playing music as well as a better camera with anti-shake. The P905i and SH905i aren't "unique" anymore- they're popping up all over, and the D905i is a slider so I worry about scratching the screen. Choices, choices.).

Posted by: wolvorine4424

i tried playing with the filenames. no luck yet

Radio does up to 99Mhz. so not much use there, but I can use the FM transmitter and set it to 89.5Mhz

Just looking around for more info on it and to help others in making this info available.

not to mention getting it to work on my phone too...

wolvorine: Sorry to change subjects, but I had a question after seeing you go between US and Japan.

I'm currently in Canada, but go home every so often to the US. But I'm also starting to travel to Japan and was wondering if I could use the phone plus SIM workaround between North America and Japan. I'm not sure if I could just pick up a plan and phone, and swap cards into one of the 905i I plan to get. Do you know if it's possible? I would like to pick up the N905i soon and I plan to go to Japan this summer for quite awhile and from there every now and then. I hope that didn't sound as confusing as I think it sounds. haha

Posted by: wolvorine4424

I'm sure you can. But it will be hard to nennect to the US network with the trick i'm working on.

Because The number i put in the sim is the Docomos network number and if you are in Japan I think it will NOT connect. Due to the Ki not bieng Docomos. But I'm not sure.

I had a friend get me service in Japan. Because of the new restriction. You have to be in Japan for a min of 90days to get service. I was only there for 30. I will be going back for 60 or more if I can (July and August) I can get more info on this.

Please post again, I'f I didnt answer your question. Its been a long night, so I cant think strait...

Update:
I just got the PSS Sim, I will try to rip the programming out of it and make it emulate Docomo. Thats after I try it first and see if the phone works witout any modding. Just want to check the IMSI in it now.

Posted by: wolvorine4424

I Have some good news and some bad news...

Good News:

With the PSS SIM, I was able to use all the phone functions (Looks Like the IMSI Number in it was accepted by the phone)

Bad News:

No metter what I did, the phone FAILED to connect to any network.
I did a manual connection and the 2 services here in Phila (Cingular/ATT and Tmo) where X'ed out. Only Phone Functions Worked. nothing more. (it was like the phone was in SELF MODE)

Need more research on how the PSS sim is constructed and how it works. Unless the 905 series has a new security measure for PSS and sim hacking.
If there is such a thing, this will be the first time I heard of it...

Now this is getting interesting

Posted by: KBoardBox

This is the Sharp PSS SIM, right? Hmmm, interesting news. What's "Self" mode?

Posted by: ImPoRt_TuNeR

Oops, just read over what I typed and I guess I wasn't thinking either. I was wondering if I could setup an account with Docomo (get a plan and phone) and swap the card from that phone/plan with the 905i phone I plan to buy soon (and use with a working workaroud in N/A). So in other words i would have 3 phone plans (AT&T/Rogers/Docomo) and was wondering if I could use the same 905i phone (N905i) on all 3 networks with the SIM fix in N/A and with the OEM card from Docomo.

Good luck on your project. I'm keeping an eye out on your work and the other guy's one. Although I just read that one fix wasn't detecting the SIM card. Damn shame.

It could be some idiosyncrasies of your local network. Over in China some locations won't work (mainly smaller cities and towns- it's always worked in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai) with the PSS-SIM. It could also be your SIM- from Hong Kong I read on forums that the phone doesn't like to cooperate with some providers' 3G SIMs.

Also, did you remember to stick the SIM in a "normal" phone first to get signal? That needs to be done sometimes.

think of it as a computer not connected to the internet. everything on the PC works but it can't communicate with others (ie. join networks).

Posted by: KBoardBox

Ahh, I get it. Good analogy!

Posted by: wolvorine4424

I'll keep playing with it. Maybe i need to do some settings with the phone before I insert the PSS with my sim for it to work...

Other then that, I'm going to extract the Flash from the chip and see what can be done to make it work... Not to mention I want to know the IMSI Number that is in it... Because my D905i likes that number, I didnt get even 1 error. Just no connection to the network.

If i'm correct. I think I need to disable the AUTO and 3G network setup and set it to Manual Tmo and GSM Only. just to eliminate these posible problems.
Other then that. the PSS is the first card that the phone liked and didnt reject.

are you saying this is the final hurdle?

Posted by: wolvorine4424

I sure hope so...

Because the first time I tried. Everything was set to AUTO and 3G/GSM mode.
And I was not able to change the settings with the PSS and my v2 Tmo SIM in it. Probebly PSS/Tmo Sim have no support for auto switching and the phone just locked up... I was able to see the networks just was not able to select it.

Also I will turn it ON with no sim in it. just to clear the FOMA Docomo SIM status from the phone. and at that point set it to GSM Only and set the PLMN to Tmo US (310-26 ONLY) and then power off and insert the PSS with my SIM...

Will post results as soon as I try it.

P.S. My phone works better on Cingular/ATT this is the network its connected to most of the time. But it detects it as GSM... But I get better Signal with Tmo... What are the odds

My phone works on like 7 bands... (GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 & 3G/WCDMA 850, 1900, 2100) I cant find the specs to give you a link... Will post as i find it. Damn, this manual is confusing.
Why does it detect ATT as GSM only Should it be 3G.

Posted by: aw614

att might not have 850 3g in your area

Posted by: wolvorine4424

i'm in phila pa. so mostly everything is 1800/1900... they should be 3G by now.

Um... Actually the D905i is 850/2100 3G only. 1900MHz doesn't exist in Japan so there' no need to include it (or something like that) whereas 850 does exist in Japan (it's called FOMA Plus).s

Posted by: wolvorine4424

oh. Thanks for correcting me...

I was told that 1900 was included in this phone, but I was never showed any proff... So far that I know is 850 1700 and 2100 are the bands in Japan. But they are also working on a new band. (not sure what it is yet).

Give me some time and I will know exactly what is in this phone...
I took it apart onece but as soon as I took off the back cover and seen the layers of boards and micro parts I got scared and assembled it again.
It was the first time I took of just the back cover of the phone and said . This baby is stuffed like a Thanksgiving Turkey...

it let me save it to the sd card... this should help...

1900MHz *is* included- it's GSM (part of 900/1800/1900).

Posted by: wolvorine4424

I always was under the impression that it supported the 3G 1900Mhz band...

Oh, there is an English Version of the iMode/iMenu (the internet, not program itself)
It took me a while, But there is one. I can take a pic of it if anyone wants to see it. I believe this phone can take a snapshot of the current screen, hopefully i can save it in the SD so I can copy it to the computer and upload it.

P.S. The videos I downloaded and saved to SD are DRM'd and are with SB1 extention. (what in the world is that)... SB1

Details tell me:
MP4 format
AAC Audio
176x144 res
492.4K size
SB1 Extention

Maybe its because its DRM'd thats why the extention is SB1... I downloaded from iMenu / Sony Music... they are music videos about 40sec long.

If anyone wants more info or a copy, please let me know. I have a subscription to it now so its only 315yen a month... about $2 USD...

P.S. a copy on your phone may not work, i think its locked to my phone. but sho knows.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention...

It playes under iMotion.

Of, I just downloaded a Flash wallpaper and its sweet... the background moves and reacts to the position of the phone... I never knew a phone can do that... My M1000 was not able to do this. I love this thing more and more. Now, What else can it do

No more D906i!

I know that this is the forum for the D905i; but I was thinking that if this is a FOMA simulation hack that Wolvorine is working on perhaps it would also work on the N905iu. I live in the USA but have been flying back and forth between Japan for the past year. I got one of the N905iu's with a DoCoMo contract in Japan and now I want to use my Cingular sim card with the phone here in the USA. Wolvorine, I have an active FOMA card and an active Cingular card, any way I can help with the unlock?

Posted by: wolvorine4424

so far the only problem I have is that I cant get the Ki out of the v2 sim.

There is also the posibility that even if I do the Silvercards will not know what to do with it because they do not support the v2 algorithm. (just a thought)

I'm working on a PSS hack now to see if it can be done. so anyone with a card can just use the PSS and your own Sim. But still not finished.

I'm still waiting for my friend to get at least 4 to 6 hours of free time so I can get his v1 Ki and put it into my Silvercard to see if it actually works.

Havent tested with an Active Ki yet.

We have some discussions about DoCoMo phone unlocking in the Sharp forum too.

Do they also involve the sim hack method or the PSS SIM? I was talking with some of the guys from Singapore and according to them there is a software unlock for some of the new 905i phones. They also said that since the N905iu is NEC and not Sharp, then the PSS SIM that this guy Benny_hk is providing will not actually work. I will be going back to Japan in about 3 weeks but I would like to have a working N905iu with a US network so I don't have to keep switching phones all the time.

http://forums.hardwarezone.com

They said they were going to release a V2. PSS SIM on March 20th.

Posted by: KBoardBox

Yeah, we're all over it. This whole thing started when people discovered that the PSS-SIM for the Sharps actually unlocked DoCoMo phones, albeit in a rather non-reliable way. Benny's custom Hypersim doesn't work for all SIM cards, but for most SIM card types (mostly 2G ones, i.e., not USIMs) it is quite stable for the 905i, and probably previous DoCoMo phones.

The official Hypersim guys are releasing a DoCoMo solution this week. Kuro on from HWZ says that it's 100% stable and works with all types of SIMs and USIMs, but we'll have to see when it gets released.

When I pmed him he said that it only included the phone services in Singapore, perhaps I misread his pm or maybe he screwed up in his English. Whatever the case I understand that there is no solution for the N905iu yet. I was wondering if Wolvorine's method was going anywhere. It seems like the PSS SIM's instability is due to it being so universal. Perhaps my thinking is wrong....

Actually, between the various Chinese boards I read, it seems that the SIM-hack works, but a cloned SIM (what wolvorine's trying to do) will not. The success was from a Taiwanese forum (IMA-Mobile, but it seems to be down at the moment) and the failure came from a mainland Chinese forum (China Mobile and China Unicom still use v1 SIMs, apparently, so it's easy to get the Ki from those).

Posted by: stinko0man

The success of the Taiwanese team could have not come at a better time . Hopefully DoCoMo will continue to produce phones with both 3G and GSM capabilities. Having to use two phones is really quite an inconvenience.

Posted by: AL9999

Just to clarify, the modern DoCoMo phones are supporting three 3G bands - '800', '1700' and '2100'.

800 - The so-called Japanese 850 band, called 'FOMA Plus' by DoCoMo's marketing bunch. It's this band support that allows DoCoMo phones to work on 3G 850 networks outside Japan.
1700 - A band unique to Japan. This band was added to alleviate bandwidth congestion issues on the 2100 band in cities.
2100 - The regular 3G 2100 band, used in Japan and across the world.

For the record DoCoMo phones don't support 3G 1900. GSM wise they're typically supporting GSM 900/1800/1900.

Posted by: KBoardBox

Hmm, the American T-Mobile uses the 1700 band as well, and very soon Canada will probably have that as well. I wonder if that'll somehow work here too...

Posted by: AL9999

No it won't. The American AWS band is different to the Japanese 1700 band.

The American AWS band pairs 2100 for RX with 1700 for TX, whereas the Japanese 1700 band uses 1700 for both RX and TX.

So, they're not interchangeable.

Posted by: KBoardBox

Too bad for our American friends then.

Posted by: stinko0man

What about 2G? ATT is also GSM, does that mean that the band range of the DoCoMo phones are incompatible?

Posted by: KBoardBox

DoCoMo phones will run on the 1900 GSM band, if available.

Posted by: yangj08

And there's still 850MHz 3G available.

Damn straight.

hmm, its tempting to pick up an older 903i series and try 3g out since i might have 850 3g

Yeah- where I live secondhand 903i phones are going for <US$100 so it's a chance to save a lot of money. I think the SH903i looks nice but when I get back to the States I don't know if where I'm going (Boston area) will have 850MHz coverage. And there's that issue of incoming calls not working on 3G, but then again, I'd like being able to keep in touch with people on my own terms...

Posted by: wolvorine4424

Update on Videos...

It was in this dir...
F:\SD_VIDEO\PRL001

First video is: MOL001.3gp

You can download the video I made with the phone here.

I hope this will help with the file format...
I want movies on my phone... lol

Posted by: gabtena

Does anyone know how much should a p905i cost? Where can I buy it an do you think it would work in Mexico?

Posted by: wolvorine4424

Buying will be a hard one. Unless you have a friend or someone on this board that can get it for you. (they have to be in Japan)

Let me check the specs and see if it will work. But as far as I know, not sure if you can unlock it just yet.

Posted by: gabtena

I found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/China3GPP-unloc...1QQcmdZViewItem
it says its an unlock sim that works with p905i and i also found a p905i on ebay its $585 is the price ok or too expensive? it doesnt have the charger, just battery, phone, manual and cd

Posted by: KBoardBox

That's all the P905i comes with. Seems too pricy to me.

Posted by: gabtena

How much is it in Japan?

Posted by: gabtena

justa found it thanks

Posted by: wolvorine4424

I got the Videos to PLAY...

Man this is the dumbers way to get it to recognize the files...

As I said the folders and the filenames are the same.

Here is how I got it to work...

I used the camera to make a video on the phone, then I connected the phone using SD mode and replaced the MOL001.3gp and MOL002.3gp files with my files. And they Play. But if I just add a MOL003.3gp the phone does not see it. Only way is to replace the files. Just cant add files, I think the phone has somekind of Index file. so what is not in the index it does not see it.

So basicly, Use the phones Video/Movie Camera to record a small video and then replace it with your own file...

Posted by: Gipson

weird hack but at least you figured it out. hope there's a better way in the future. so, only the filenames have to be the same right? they don't have to be the same size?

Posted by: wolvorine4424

No, the size dont metter.

I replaced a 1MB file with a 440MB file (I made Tokyo Drift) to make it work on my phone...

Watching it now, Seen 1 and a half hours already and the battery is still FULL...

The filenames have to be inorder. ex: MOL001, MOL002, MOL003, etc.

Well, I'm happy. even if I have to go through that procedure, The movie playes.

I just tried it. I have 5 files I made with the phone. I addedd the 6th file using USB with out using the camera first the replace. The phone did NOT see the 6th file...
So this may be the only way go get your OWN Videos to Play. Untill there is a Hack/Mod for that, I'm happy doing it the long way. (Create then Overwrite)

Posted by: Gipson

is the phone automatically finding the right networks? i sooo wanna order one of these phones now

Posted by: wolvorine4424

My, YES. I'm on the FOMA network. I have there Service Contract.

I tried lots of things with the PSS and I'm unable to get the phone to connect to any network. Even If I use another Phone first.

Posted by: yangj08

Out of curiosity, how much does network usage cost?

Posted by: wolvorine4424

well, i have the MAX50 plan and Packet Pack 10.

50 min plan, free incomming (only in Japan) I pay for out and in calls while on WorldWing (outside Japan)

3000yen free data usage a month / + .01 yen each aditional packet.

(Please dont quote me, this is just from my memory) I will check and give you all a detailed info.

Bro, theres a guy in HWZ got his D905i working in Singapore
you will be able to find the thread of it, find and and contact him
he said it couldnt connect to the provider but he change some setup and it worked for him

Hope you make this work man

Posted by: wolvorine4424

That should help... Thank you.
I will look that up.

PS: I watched the whole Movie (1hour & 45min) and the battery did not go down at all...

But If I use it the whole day and at about 7PM i start watching it, by the end of the movie. The batt drops 1 bar. (Out of 3 bars)

So, its not bad.

I think I can watch 4 movied before the phone tells me I need to charge it (Battery Low Message)

Posted by: lordsilent

Kinda quiet in here, hopefully hes not posting because hes on to something!

Posted by: wolvorine4424

maybe. Just double checking everything to make sure I didnt miss anything.

Other then that, I'm hoping that I missed something. Because i sort off hit a brick wall...

For some reason, this phone knows what i'm about to do before i do it. Sounds strange dosent it...

Posted by: wolvorine4424

I was right...

This phone makes a table/index of every file created by the phone.

I tried to play with pics also.

I made 4 pics with the camera. then I deleted 2 off the card (not using the phone, but USB connected to computer)

the phone still told me that there is 4 pics but 2 of them where missing. Had a red X instead of the pic.

Here is the table/index file from the SD that monitors the SD_VIDEO folder.
P.S. I also tried to rename 1 Display Name for file "MOL001.3gp" there (from date created to the name of the movie) as soon as i tried to open the movie folder the phone told me that the SD card is corrupted. and showed 0 files in that folder...

renamed file from *.TBL to *.TXT...

Man this phone is a PAIN... It looks like it only recognizes the files it creates. but replacing the files works. so it tricks it. Good think it does not remember the file size.

EDIT:
OMG, Its the same for WMA (audio)... it tells me file is missing, but its still in the list. Oh, this phone does not play MP3's.
If I add songs, it adds them to the table/index automaticly, but deleting needs to be done using the phone.

Hi, I just found this thread today and have read through the whole thing in one go (with a break for lunch). wolvorine4424, thank you and congratulations on your amazing efforts to break these tough machines.

Please let me know if I can do anything to help with the testing. I'm not familiar with the technical side of these phones and so like a few members have also said, I don't understand half of what's been written on this thread. Nevertheless, I should tell you I am currently in Japan using an F905i (locked, of course) with an active DoCoMo FOMA service contract.

I originally found this thread because I was searching for ways to take my F905i home to Hawaii and be able to use it when I move back this August. At that time I will be returning to my family's house and will be back on their T-Mobile family plan. Because of that, let me know if there is anything (basic) I can do to help the cause.

Actually, the F905i will work fine. When you get back home get a HyperSIM(I don't know where they're sold; ask around), attach your T-Mobile SIM to it and you're good to go. You'll lose i-mode and mail (SMS is still OK) though, and reports are that the F905i is one of the less stable 905i models (meaning that it will drop calls every now and then).

It should work. Plus, the N905i is one of the most stable of the lot (you'll still maybe drop calls sometime, but I've read it's something like once a week/two/more instead of a couple a day in the F905i).

Posted by: cjileong

yangj08, thanks for the quick solution. I take it this has been generally confirmed to work then?

I'm not so worried about losing i-mode and stuff...comes with the territory. I just don't want to have to go home and switch from my beautiful F905i to a Samsung or Nokia, that's all.

Yeah, but just be forewarned that "every now and then" (when I mentioned dropping signal) may mean "multiple times in 3 hours" (from an Hong Kong-based forum I frequent). I can easily see it being worth it, though. On the one hand, I don't want the expectation to build that it will work absolutely perfectly, but on the other hand I hope that you don't really find it dropping multiple times in 3 hours like it apparently does in HK.

Posted by: cjileong

I hope it doesn't, either, but thanks for the warning. I guess I'll see for myself when I get back in August and get set up. Kind of a long wait. Either way, I hope T-Mobile doesn't fail me!

Posted by: wolvorine4424

Been playing with it and still the same results...

The PSS SIM, Unblocks all the features so the phone works, BUT I cant connect to anything. I just see the DAMN big red X in the network list.
This phone really knows what i'm about to do... Scarry.

I'm going to NY later today, So I will see if there are any 3G networks there.
If there is I have to test a couple of features while i'm there.

Even If ATT told me that there is 3G available in my area, The phone DOES NOT see it. it only sees GSM networks. Thats if the operator knows what is the difference between 3G and just plain GSM network.

Try getting a HyperSIM instead. There's supposed to be a special version for DoCoMo phones. I've read plenty of reports of people happy with their D905i phones in China (well, except for one person who accidentally deleted the preinstalled games; really highlights the need to figure out how to get internet going on this thing).

Posted by: KBoardBox

Depends on whether the 3G network is on 1900 or 850. Apprently 3G doesn't work here and it's all 850 in Vancouver. :\

Not even 1 active 3G network that my phone was able to connect to.
All the networks my phone saw was only the GSM networks.

sad news... been so quiet was hoping something was in the works.
can't give up!

Posted by: RaverX

If i could get a rom dump of the phone i may be able to help. I have read about 95 precent of this thread. FIrst off good job and wow you have spent alot of money trying to get this phone to work.

I have a Panasonic P900iv so ya i know why you are trying to get this phone to work in america.

i also have a friend that has the same phone as you busted screen. Maybe i can get it off his hands and take it apart. There might be another way that i wanna try.

Posted by: wolvorine4424

To be honest, I do need some hardware support here.

I do things as I learn them, this is why its taking so long...

One of the problems I have is:

Not sure what bootloader this phone runs on
I know its symbian but thats about it.

Not sure how to access the ram memory to do a bump. I can with MOTO phones, but this one just kills me.

I know you can do a HARD dump by reading it directly of the chip, but I do not want to risk killing it. this is a field I'm not really smart at.

I know the locks are in the software, but how do I get it all out.

Plus If i insert a forein sim in it, it does NOT ask me for a code. It starts up telling me unrecognized sim... thats all.

If i was able to remove this network block or just add a couple of network keys to the list then it will be gravy.

All it adds up to is getting the FW off the phone. I'm trying to get it using contacts in Japan. But due to the autoupdate feature, its extreamly hard.

Posted by: RaverX

well if we get it dumped ill help you in hacking the firmware. If all the checks are in software thats a plus. My thought was changing the sim card identifiers in the phone over to something us based.

Posted by: wolvorine4424

Sounds good to me...

Now. I know the m1000 (moto) had a p2k programming interface. wich PST was able to switch to Bootloader and programm it that way.

Now I wonder what is the d905i interface.

Back to research... this may be a little hard.
Its not like I can call Mitsu or Docomo and ask them for this type of info...

If only I had something to go by.
The best place to start would be a good Forum that has lots of tools and stuff for symbien. I will also googld for it.

I will also try to call in a favor and see if I can get my hands on at least some type of an upgrade file. hopefully it will point me in the right direction.

So far I tried tons of access codes for Mitsu phones and the phone ignored all of them. This phone is locked down tight. Security at work.

Posted by: AquaRelle

i hope you get it to work soon keep trying

waiting on a friend with that phone

Hi everyone.
I have a Docomo D905i and i have a unlock sim
but i have a problem
My D905i has been locked by code. i can't find code to unlock it
Any one know the code unlock or how to hard reset this phone? plz help me T_T
Thanks very much

riel's edit: No more double posting, okay?

Posted by: Gipson

so i assume this project is dead now? whats the next hot docomo D model that can be used in north america?

Posted by: aw614

thats the last one

Posted by: MissingNo

So, just asking on the thread since I got a hold of a D905i and read the entire thread,

What's the easiest way of *attempting* to get the phone to work with AT&T?
My SIM's a USIM 3G card so I know I'm out of luck if I need a Ki.

What about those unlocking cards that are attached to a SIM? I've seen a bunch of them floating around and don't know which one (if any) I should go for.

I'm really lost here

Data and MMS don't matter to me, it's the phone and SMS I really need.

Posted by: aw614

probably get the inex for d905i its supposed to work on att...
