Network problems with 811t

i just bought a softbank 811t with hk firmware, meant to be unlocked from yesasia.com. so far though, i haven't been able to send or receive texts or calls, but depending on what type of sim card i use, it can detect other networks (but can't actually connect to them, saying 'cannot perform this operation due to network connection failure' or simply auto-canceling the call).

right now i have an orange uk gsm sim card (on which the phone can detect the networks) and a orange uk 3g sim (which it cannot). I'm guessing from this that it isn't the sim card, but the phone.

i've tried tweaking the network and internet settings, but nothing seems to help. any advice would be helpful.

If you press *#06#, is your IMEI 352950010210250 ?? If it is, you're out of luck. Basically the method they used to unlock the phone means that there are a whole lot of 811T's out there with the same IMEI. And someone must have lost/had theirs stolen which is why the phone is blocked from all UK networks. As you probably know, in the UK, we have a system where if a phone is reported lost/stolen on one network, it is blocked from all the UK networks (these are Vodafone, Orange, O2, T-mobile, 3). There is nothing you can do about it, except sell the phone to outside the UK.

Here's a message I recieved from my seller in Australia, whom I bought my phone off. I ended up selling the phone later, back to Australia, where it worked.

Hi, sorry to get back to u so late, since I had different suppliers and they dun normally reply mails all the time if it's nothing to do with purchasing. Well he told me he might've put the mobile in the wrong box because as far as I know, in his warehouse he stocked over 250 Toshiba mobiles and there's a big chance when he take out items to check sim lock etc and put it back into the wrong box. He said the IMEI that u got resulted from the soft unlocking so do not worry, we do not sell dodgy items and if it's used or refurbished etc we will advise our customer So how did the China Town visit go? Cheers

Basically,
