BJ2 Rant. Screen related.

I currently have the original BlackJack as well as the Motorola Q9.

I was really looking forward to the Blackjack 2. More memory, little larger screen, faster processor, GPS, better keyboard, etc... However, after purchasing the new model and getting everything loaded up, I find myself going back and using either the original or the Q9... Why you ask?

OK, since you asked... The screen! Maybe I just got a really bad screen, and yes, I read the reviews that said the new screen is slightly washed out, but the BJ2 screen doesnt even remotely compare to the Q9 or even the previous Blackjack! I dont understand how you can put out a new (updraded) model with an inferior screen?

For this reason, and this reason only, I am returning the BlackJack 2. I love the device, scroll wheel, new keyboard, etc... But I just cannot get past the washed out screen.

How do you all feel? Am I alone on this? If so... I apologize.

well you probably aren't alone but it's not that big of a deal. Surely when you compare them side by side you see a major difference but when you using the device day by day not constantly staring at the others for comparison it's not that bad. I see it when i look at the bottom (start - contacts) area and just from memory remember how the BJ one looked.

Seriously tho, it's not something that's a deal breaker for me. How important is the screen when you're talking on the phone? It's visible in daylight and you can make calls.

Well coming from the crummy N75's screen, the Blackjacks screen is what won me over. I had the N75 and bought the wife a Blackjack. It immediately grabbed my attention when the screen lit up. The bright, crisp screen and clear text that my N75 (and others) lacks so much.

I returned my N75 the next day for my precious Blackjack.

Honestly the Blackjack is a great phone, actually the best phone I've had in a while. I'm really surprised how well it works and I'm really glad my wife wanted one. If it weren't for her I'd still be squinting at my N75.

This is the first I've heard of the screen problems of the BJ2. Really a shame.

do search in registry for gamma. change value to zero. then change color scheme to wm green. looks pretty damn good after these changes.

What app should I use to search the registry?

on the screen on mine the colors seem slightly "off." Not exactly washed out but different than on my blackjack. For instance, in AgendaOne the dark maroon looks lighter on the bjII than on my blackjack. I noticed that the screen is slightly brighter at the edges than in the center (seen more easily when a dark color is displayed). Changed the gamma setting and rebooted. Looks the same. Not bad my any means but somehow different than the blackjack.

Could you be more specific about which registry entry you changed? I found several with the word GAMMA in them...
