Need Help Picking 3G Phone

Hello, I have searched hi and low without succcess. I am considering upgrading my phone to a 3G capable handset for tethering. I want to make sure I pick up a handset that is HSDPA capable and not just UMTS. I checked ATT website and spoke with their technical department with no luck. They indicated all their 3G handsets are HSDPA ready. I am questioning their statment because I thought the Nokia 6555 was not even though they say it is. I am intersested in the new ATT LG Shine, LG 515 and Samsung A717. I am located in Los Angeles. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
