Leave Verizon and get iPhone(or tilt) or stick with Verizon and get PDA?

Hi this is my first post in this forum. A week ago I broke my LG enV(it will no longer charge). So I am trying to figure out what to do. I used to be with AT&T but switched to Verizon because the service here was horrible(I couldn't even talk on the phone in my house, or front/back yard, I had to walk down to the road). Now my brother switched back to AT&T and he says the service is a little bit better (He has an iPhone).
What I am looking for in a phone is something that has a good, fast, internet browser, and a powerful planner. I am in college so I often need help remember when exams are and meetings. I also text a lot, and it seems most of my friends have verizon. The problem with that is I don't want to run up a huge bill texting out of network. Is it possible to send an email to a verizon's @vztext.com email address and not have that count as a text?
So what phones are recommended from verizon to fit my needs and how do these compare overall to the iPhone?

If Verizon has the coverage you need, why change, especially if ATT doesn't? Makes no sense to me. Coverage should be the number one issue, not price, not cool phones, not features. Coverage.

Get a Treo on VZW or the new XV6800. Verizon has the fastest data rate and AT&T coverage sucks in your area. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

get a Blackberry 8830. it is great for texting, has a good radio, has a great browser(you would NEVER get on facebook during class, though im sure), very easy to use and an overall better phone than the iPhone.

You could also grab the Voyager. It's similar to the iPhone because of the touch screen, but it also has the form factor of the enV with the keyboard and secondary screen. The camera and browser are also benefits over the iPhone because of autofocus and Verizon's high speed network.

Yes, this seems to be the favorite among the Verizon crowd who was gonna switch, but now has something comparable without having to. I'd say play with the Voyager at your local VZW store and see how you like the experience overall. They should have the phones activated, so see if you can test out the RF as well.
