how bad is this keyboard because im looking at the touch and i like to do a lot of texting--I've heard that the tiny keyboard on the touch can be quite problematic

as well, would the touch dual, or touch cruise be better for me (the most important things on a phone for me are call quality and texting simplicity as well as an ergonomic design coupled with speedy processing time)

thanks, look to hear a response soon

The Touch (ELF) does not have a keyboard. It has a touch screen that can display a virtual keyboard. The standard WM keypad choices are lack lustre, but some 3rd party apps are quite good. A lot of people like SPB full screen keyboard, I use Cootek TouchPal.

Performance will never be comparable to a real keyboard device for texting, and if that is a requirement, go for the Touch Dual.

I have the cdma version of the touch and I find the updated touch keyboard to work just fine. Just took me a few days to get used to traditional keyboard layout texting opposed to numeric keypad txt'ing.

I understand that there isn't a nomal keypad on the Touch, instead just a virtual keyboard that is quite small...do you mean that I can download a new, larger, style of keypad for text messaging?

Updated "Touch Keyboard" on the CDMA works quite well, I don't know if that's coming on new GSM models though. I also like to use SPB Fullscreen Keyboard

i personally use TouchPal, and i like it so far. it's suretype-esque. only problem i have with it is the placement of the space button, especially when typing SMS because it's right ABOVE the send option, and i have sent incomplete messages a few times.

however, i experienced that having no physical keyboard is a pain for typing in general. there's obviously zero tactile feedback, and i have no idea if i'll ever get used to it (though i generally type fast with TouchPal). if you're a really heavy texter, i say go for the Dual, or something with an actual keyboard.

The Rogers GSM model includes a bunch of standard keyboards: standard numeric, full qwerty requiring stylus, and 2 letter per key qwerty similar to the BB pearl.
