Setting up Gmail question....

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'd like to have Gmail set up on my BJ2 so I don't have to browse to the net to get the mail.

I set it up as a POP3 account but it's trying to download like 700 messages which I guess is the number of messages in my inbox (as only 5 threads).

Is there another way to set up Gmail or is there a way to stop it from downloading every single email?

EDIT: I downloaded "faster gmail" the java app. Now, how do I access it without having to browse out to the java apps and open it there?

IMAP + headers only for the win.

Um, what?

I would advise not using POP and going with IMAP and have it only download headers, if the WM6 client has that option.

IMAP is a way to access your email like POP only POP is older and not as dynamic.

See this page for IMAP settings: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/...799&topic=12761

I can confirm that in Email Setup there is an option under "Message download limit" called "Headers only." This will help with the large download queue.

Worked over here too but...

I cant get the body of the messages to show up. They download and show up in the inbox but then when I select a message, the body of the message doesn't show up. Still working on it. Maybe its an HTML/Text formatting thing.

Don't do headers only. Limit it to 1,000k or another setting. Easy to setup on the handset.

IMAP rules.

This is a known gmail bug with IMAP - We can only hope they are working on it. Because gmail IMAP is a great solution if it works !!!

Attention Windows Mobile users:

Some of you may have already noticed that IMAP is not working properly
on your mobile mail client. You may be seeing the following:

-HTML emails are not displayed on your mobile device.
-The header of the message is downloaded correctly, but the body of
the message is missing.

I just want everyone to know that we're aware of these issues and
working to address them. If it's happening to you, please feel free to
report it here:
