Noob question about monster flash (I think!)

Hi folks, I'm completely new to all of this, but I've spent the last few days reading these forums trying get a grasp on all this. I haven't found a thread that refers to EXACTLY what I need to do, so I figured I'd ask.
I have an E815 currently on Verizon's network. I was given a company phone (cheaper, crappy model) that is on Alltel's network. I cancelled my Verizon service but I'd like to use the E815 for my Alltel number rather than the other crappy phone.
I stopped in an Alltel reseller shop and they got my Alltel number working on the E815, but it appears to still be using Verizon's network. Also, any calls that I make appear to be long distance (have to dial area code).
Do I need to do an Alltel monster flash on the E815? Will that tell it to use Alltel's network rather than Verizon's? Is there another way to change that network info other than a complete flash?
Thank you! I hope I put this in the correct forum area

I don't have experience flashing from VZW to Alltel, but it looks like you can find a flash file here: http://www.humpa.com/vzw/
I would assume it's continuously roaming on VZW because of the phone's settings. From what I'm told a monster flash is the best way to go.

I'm pretty sure the reason you seem to be dialing long distance is because you have a Verizon PRL on the phone. The PRL basically tells the phone which towers to bounce off of. You'll need to get an Alltel PRL, then load it on the phone using RSD or PST. Check out the Alltel section to find the PRL file, and I believe Mark Venture has a tutorial on his pages about loading the PRL.

Thanks for all the help, everyone
As soon as the data cable comes (ordered it the other day), I'm gonna give it a whirl.
I hope I don't screw this up... I don't want to have to go back to that other phone!

OK, I've got the data cable, installed the drivers, etc. BitPim sees the phone and is able to download from it and all that, but MSU doesn't seem to know the phone is connected.
Any advice?

Update: I got the phone flashed using RSD Lite, worked out very well. Now I just need to get my number back on it and get my Contacts imported.
Do I just call Alltel to get my number back on the phone, or is it something I can do myself? I tried to *228 but activation keeps failing. Also it keeps showing that it's roaming. Will it stop doing that once it's reactivated?
As far as importing the contacts... BitPim can connect to the phone, but throws an exception when I try to send the contacts up to the phone. Anyone know why this is happening? Is the file structure somehow different now since it's an Alltel phone now, but used to be on VZW?
Thank you!!

Another update:
We're back in the saddle! I called Alltel and they walked me through the programming of the phone, which also resolved the roaming issue. Once the phone had it's number assigned to it, I was once again able to connect with MPT and import all my contacts. Everything works, and I'm thrilled!
Thanks so much to those who helped, and to everyone that contributes to this site. There's a lot of great information here
