Im stuck in a town in between Orlando and Gainsville (both 3G cities) and it seems like no-one truly knows when its gonna come my way.. EVDO is all over the place (used to have VZW) and im used to hi-speed data... one sales rep said Jan. 08.. then I went to a corp store where i was told late 2008-09 and we are better of without it... anyone got any info??

Im not sure man, but ocala is not that small of a market, Im in Tallahassee and enjoy 3G on all carriers, but thats probably cause we have more people here and its the capital...

Hold on tight bro, it will come

I was going down SR200 about 2 weeks ago near the Target/Roadhouse Grill and I picked up 1 bar of 3G for about a mile. Haven't seen it since then. Also my Blackjack did a 3g handoff about a week ago somewhere between Belleview and Summerfield. So their building it now and doing a little testing.

areas in northern Lake County like Mount Dora, Eustis and Tavares won't be seeing 3G service until August of NEXT FREAKIN' YEAR! yeah, that's right. they (meaning AT&T) keep on telling us we'll see 3G soon. I love how nine months to them is soon. what a crock... I would imagine Ocala probably won't be seeing it any sooner than us.

oh well, the joke's on AT&T because carriers like Sprint have already had their EVDO service (which averages in the 2MB area) in our area for almost two years now. think of how much business AT&T is losing by being the last one to jump on the broadband bus.

I wish I could see my 3g icon pop up everynow and then to see theyre at least testing where im at... I remember when I had VZW I was loving the speed in NY, When i came to FL it wasnt around but I saw their towers which turned on a few months later.. Edge is not bad here though but I would like to experience 3g

Yeah I just got myself a sprint EVDO card for my macbook pro. Love the service I get 1800Kbps down and 685Kbps up. I like sprint for data, but I don't think I will ever use their voice.

Its not all of florida, if you look at the maps you see where most of the major metros have 3g now, you just happen to live in an area with not enough importance or people

that I do truly believe.. but this place is slowly growing into an actual city (it used to be just a town) so I do see some kind of hope in 2008, a date would be nice though

When I worked at the Ocala Call Center I spoke with a Network Specialist who serviced Gainesville and Ocala and he stated to me that 3G service would be available in Ocala Summer of 08. He stated and I stress this that this was a tentative rollout and could change at any time which is a common occurrence with AT&T. They've been very slow with the rollout in markets the size of Ocala. You'd think doing the rollout by markets rather than cities it would make the transition much easier. For instance...Ocala is in the North Florida PCS market along with Tallahassee and Gainesville, yet Ocala is the only major city in that market without 3G. It makes no sense to not include the entire market in the rollout rather than select cities. Also, wouldn't it make more sense to have 3G where you have an actual call center so reps could boast about the service of 3G rather than assume how good it is from what other customers tell them????

If only AT&T were as aggressive in marketing and with their network as Verizon is. I can get Rev-A service with my Aircard in areas AT&T doesn't even have EDGE coverage. Sad and disappointing. I prefer GSM over CDMA any day but AT&T really needs to pick up their slack.
