Nokia 6120c vs. Sony Ericsson w610i

I just wanted to get some help and feedback from all you knowledgeable phone users from around the world. Here's my current situation:

I currently own the Sony W610i walkman phone. I have little complaints with it besides the small number keys and the OS could be stronger, ie true smartphone. It does have a very decent 2MP autofocus camera with flash and great walkman player with A2DP profile. However I just came across the Nokia 6120 classic and just fell in love with it, ordered it and it should arrive in 2 days. What attracted me to the Nokia 6120c was the elegant, stylish, and slim design, (almost a replica of my current Sony W610i in dimensions), S60 OS(so true smartphone) , and some other stuff.

Anyways, the main features I need on a mobile phone right now are good battery life on light-moderate daily usage, decent camera, good audio/video player(especially MP3s) , good internet browser with decent speed, good organizing programs/features, stable A2DP profile, good call quality, reception, and earpiece, overall speed of OS, and ability to add new applications, games, and other customization through 1st and 3rd parties.

Although my current Sony W610i can fullfill most or all of this, I just feel like switching to Nokia and trying something new , especially after reading all the positive reviews about the 6120c and never having a true PDA/smartphone. I've heard alot of good stuff about S60 Nokia phones and here's my chance to try it out I guess. So what do all of you feel about this? Should I sell my Sony W610i or sell the Nokia 6120c? Its been such a long time since I've used Nokia, probably 10 years ago. How good/versatile is the S60 platform when compared to WM and Palm? I've always wanted a true PDA smartphone with the phone features coming first and having read so many positive reviews about the S60 devices and then seeing how affordable the 6120c was, I couldn't resist.

So in short, is the 6120c that much more versatile and powerful than the Sony W610i since its based on S60 platform or is the S60 too much for me right now? I know you can add Java based apps/games on the Sony but its not true smartphone/PDA apps. What about the overall screen quality, camera ,music/media player, internet browser, and A2DP quality between the two? I know Opera Mini exists but I've heard the browser on the new Nokia S60 phones are some of the most advanced browsers on a mobile device right now and based on Iphone Safari technology. Is this true and whats so special about it? Can someone who's had experience with both share their thoughts on these issues for me? Thanks so much.

The camera on the 6120c will perform very, very poorly (completely unusable due to digital noise) with anything less than bright sunshine.

Screen quality is one of the best out there, although 2 inches is a little small for some of today's standards.

Web browsing is amazing. However, nothing is perfect and you might run into "out of memory" error messages if you load a website with too much graphics.

For MP3 playback, the 6120c seems to be pickier than some other phones when it comes to compatibility and the way that the music is saved, but otherwise it performs fine.

Signal strength/reception is great on this phone and the earpeice is extremely loud and clear, but does sound a little tinny.

Battery life isn't very good. I never did a test to see how long it would last in GSM mode but while using 850MHz 3G, a fully charged battery only gave me 2 hours 20 minutes of continuous talk time.

I've had this model for a couple of weeks now and the OS seems stable, for the most part. However, I do notice some lag. Sometimes after ending a call, the phone locks up and will not respond to commands for a few seconds after hanging up. But then all of a sudden, it will execute all of the commands instantly.

First thing to check is whether you have a chinese 6120c or a finland 6120. From what i have heard the chinese one is a little buggier than the one from finland.

Mine is from finland and I have no problems with it. I'm on a 3G network and i get usually around 4-5 days stand by or about 3 hours talk time.

Sound quality and reception are excellent. I've owned over 45 cellphones in the past 10 years and far and away the 6120classic is my favorite.

The camera is better than people give it credit for. it lacks a bit in low light, but if you switch the camera to night mode its pretty decent. It also shoots great video.

The music player works great, never had any problems with it and watching movies with Realplayer is great. I love the fact that you can run it in the back ground while doing other tasks.

The web on this phone is great, many people have said that the nokia browser is better than opera. I've never used opera, and after using the nokia I don't see any reason why i'd ever need opera.

I've heard of people having success with up to 6GB of removable storeage, but i'm only using 1GB.

My vote is that you keep the Nokia and sell the sony ericcson. You will not regret you decision.

I got my Nokia 6120c today. It says its made by Nokia on the inside of the phone and outside of the box so I'm assuming I got the Finnish one. I'm waiting for my 4GB microSD card to arrive before I used the phone though. I can't wait. I've never been this excited for a phone before. The only phone that I've had that made me this anxious was the Iphone but it was way overhyped and after having it for about a month, the novelty quickly fell off and the lack of certain functions/features was very obvious and frustrating. I quickly got rid of that one. Also, I didn't wanted to play a cat and mouse game with Apple. Anyways, I'm just hoping that my 6120c doesn't suffer from any of those heating problems because that would mean my phone is defective. Did anyone out there that had a heating problem with this 6120 classic phone had a black Finnish model (made by Nokia)?

just a little tips , assuming you are new to S60 world:

:: the reason i use S60 is obviously its catalog of application , so visit the freeware thread at S60 forum of howardforums.com.

just felt like sharing .... i use the following apps currently : RescoViewer (6120 dont come with standard nseries picture browser , so i use it as replacement) , Opera Mini (of course default browser is awsome , but sometimes it forces you to viewing mobile specific page, like for example - engadget.com or bbc.co.uk ) , y-broser , SmsOne ,divx player , xplorer , handy profile (i cant live without it ) , photorite (nice camera options ), palringo , & emoze(blackberry wannabe email client).

just a small question , have you experienced any difference in call quality ? my two friends have w550i & k750i & i always get very noisy sound when talking with them

"Made by Nokia" means the phone has come from China. It would say "Made in Finland" if it had come from Finland.

Thanks for the applications advice. S60 will open a whole new world for me in terms of mobile apps. No, I haven't tested out the call quality yet because I'm still waiting for my 4GB memory card to arrive before I use the phone. Probably early this week. Its still sitting brand new in the box. I'm very impressed with the Sony Ericsson phones in terms of call quality and reception and my W610 I'm currently using is no different. Hopefully this Nokia phone will be at least on par with that. As far as being made in China is concern, if that was the case, then it should have said something like that on the box or inside the phone somewhere. I did find it strange that my phone model says ' made by Nokia' because that is such a general term that doesn't tell where the phone was actually made. I'm just hoping that mine came from a good batch.
