well i tried restoring up to 1.1.1 from 1.0.2 (virgin) and when i go to activate it with i tunes it activates and will sync but it doesnt register with AT&T. original sim that came with the phone and all is still in there.

wtf... any thoughts?

im on hold with iphone support (since the phone is now 100% virgin) and no one has herd of this issue. i litterally have the tech, the supervisor, and a tier 3 specialist trying to figure it out.

i guess i can get around the whole BS process when i tell them im an AT&T COR rep along with a part time computer tech

ok so im speaking with an engineer at apple. i have an engineer stumped.

i honestly think HoFo can come up with better answers then these guys can. ive been one the phone an hour and a half, spoken with 9 different people and no one can figure the issue out...

luckily i have a backup phone

I'd say swap it for another one? that'd be the easy way out

I'm curious as to why you're restoring to 1.1.1 from 1.0.2 instead of upgrading. A restore should be done with the same firmware that's currently on the device. That's probably why you're having trouble.

because "Upgrading' will bring me to 1.1.2 and i dont wanna run 1.1.2 yet.

You should be upgrading to 1.1.1 not restoring. Go to modmyiphone.com and download the 1.1.1 firmware. Connect to itunes, hold the shift key (PC) and click upgrade. Find the 1.1.1 file you downloaded and upgrade to 1.1.1. You can't restore to a higher firmware you have to upgrade.

Same thing happened to me; go to 1.1.2 and it should activate just fine. Maybe Apple just decided to 'deactivate' all the older versions/builds?
