Anybody figure out how to make the LED light actually do anything useful?

No. Pretty sad actually.

Any one had a rapid blue flashing light yet? I think it occurred when I tried to turn off the alarm this morning. The alarm turned off but the light did not.

Had to restart.

So there is a red, green, purple and blue light and no way to control it. There has to be a way. Somebody will figure it out.

Just tried the Alarm for the first time and the blue LED turned off when I stopped the alarm. Whats the green for ? Havent seen that one yet.

Green = Fully charged
Red = Charging
Blue = Alarm, at least this one stays on until alarm is dismissed
Purple = Email/SMS, worthless becuase LED flashes for between 5-15 seconds. oddly not consistent.

The only colors I've observed. Sadly PhoneAlarm does not fix this.

Purple also flashes when some programs pop up an information or error message on the phone.

And --- I have noticed that my purple light flashes (and the backlight turns on) randomly throughout the day w/o having any new mail or message. Not sure why it is doing this.

I noted this when the phone switches from 3G to Edge or vice versa...
Very annoying, having the screen come on for now reason has to kill battery life....

My BJ II lights up the screen and the LED will blink purple at random times. This will happen when I have perfect 3G service.

The other thing I found odd is when I mark an email unread the light blink purple for 1 second.

It’s odd that in the manual, it does not mention that the phone even has an LED.

The random backlight and LED isn't happening to me, at least not that I have noticed.
It is definitely wierd that it isnt mentioned anywhere.

I emailed Samsung about it, not that I expect a really good response but we'll see what I get

this is the reply I got...

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, the BLACKJACK II can not be configured for repeated message or calls.

Below is a listing of the FAQs currently registered in our system for the SGH-I617 (BlackJack II) handset.

Thanks. Good enough reason for me to return it and get something else...

im thinking im going to keep it. Hopefully somebody will figure out how to change this eventually and its really the only issue I have. I like the scroll wheel and ive had really good battery life. Might check out the red wine when that comes out tho.

That is what i thought with the BJ, but the crappy Bluetooth stack was never fixed. and who knows when they will ever really fix it in the wm6 update.

The other issues I'm having is skipping music on a stereo BT headset (CPU is slow at 260Mhz, BJ was 220Mhz) and battery life is dismal, I think becuase I'm on the edge of a 3G area. Also can't force an EDGE connection lock so I have no choice really.

I do hope some finds a solution. Tired of waiting. thx
