The outer lens on my wifes V3r has been broken for some time now and the phone is having some issues and I need to send the phone back for an XBM exchange. I need to replace the outer CID lens on the phone so they don't charge me for a problem that isn't even hardware related. Does the phone have to be taken apart to do this or can i simply pry up the broken lens. Is the lens held in with screws or just adhesive? Any help is greatly appreciated!

The outer lens is the same for the V3 / V3_05 / V3_06.
just pry it out and stick on the new one

Thanks for the quick response!

Adhesive, which is bounded pretty tight. Don't use anything too sharp as to poke through the circuit underneath.

It all depends how it's broken. You may have no choice but to use something sharp at first if it's simply cracked and gives u no seams to insert a tool.

Just be aware underneath the lens is a layer of black tape, like electrician tape but ezly puntuable with something sharp, then underneath that is the famed flex cable, if u mess up this cable u can purchase a replacement for like usd$15.

I have never tried to lift a lens like this so can't give any real advice. Once u get grip of a lens piece, perhaps use a tweezer to lift it off while using a blund tool to hold down the black tape.

If it starts to feel scary, u may want to do the standard way instead, remove the front cover (google for DISASSEMBLY GUIDE) then u can get an exacto underneath the lens and slowly break the adhesive bond.
